Re: M45g starter bendix clutch plate lubrication
The plates are left dry, so you should clean them. Here's the manual: http://www.fordson.se/8_9_Broms_sl%E4p_och_Elsystem_Suplement_Verkstadshandbok_001-012_och_001-010.pdf We refer to it as a bendix too, but Ford refers to it as the Pinion and clutch assy. Hopefully your leak will have been cured b...

Re: sump plug
I'm not sure if it's UNF or BSF, it's closest to 3/4" (19.05mm), but all the measurements I've found give the OD of the thread as the nominal diameter. Unfortunately I can't measure any of our plugs. The early plug is E1ADKN-6730A, E1ADKN-6731 is the Fram oil filter element.

Re: sump plug
I'm not very sure, as it mentions Dexta's and Dexta drain plugs are very different from Major drain plugs. It could be that the company have changed something though.

Re: sump plug
You do have the original one fitted, there are no replacements available, so you'll need to find a good second hand one; I would stick with the current one for now and leave it until at least the next oil change. The Major sump plug is not a normal one because of the fine thread and it uses a copper...

Re: Serious starter problem!
Good to see the starter and solenoid are fine, I'm just wondering if the new battery might have suffered damage from neglect, as a battery allowed to sit will lose charge and it will also lose the ability to accept charge, also increasing the internal resistance and eventually causing the battery to...

Re: Serious starter problem!
Could you charge the battery first? It could be that all this is because the battery has drained because of the stuck solenoid.

Re: Serious starter problem!
Inspect the original solenoid and try it again, the new one might be shorted to earth directly (repro parts can be as bad as that), I also recommend you try connecting a battery directly to the starter to see how it works and look for hot points elsewhere in case you find what shorted out. Do ensure...

Re: oil filter leak
Sounds like you have an earlier type (that explains why the parts are different from the ones in the 1957 parts book), is it stamped AC or FRAM? They're quite different, the AC one is very similar to the later one on the RH side in the 1957 parts book, whereas the Fram one is even longer and the bod...

Re: Fordson Selene
Does the pump struggle or give no pressure? You might need to reset the control linkage, but if you turn the pump by hand blocking the feed pipe you'll either find the pump becomes very difficult to turn or that it just keeps going, in which case you'll need to replace the drive gear key. Try doing ...

Re: oil filter leak
Try this (from the 1957 parts book, I think on the FFCN), the LH one is the Tecalemit one, the RH one is the AC one: https://i.postimg.cc/13bPqSzy/E1-ADKN-18662-B.jpg I think there are a couple of bits that aren't featured here, but if you post a pic of it it should be straight forward to see. Re: Fordson Selene
The external service valve is the same as the later Dexta (it is indeed part no. 45), you might have a DAR valve (not included in this manual, it has a large vertical lever on the front) instead but I think that's unlikely as they're quite rare. I recommend you give it a good clean, open the flow co...

Re: first start up
Good point on the injector pump, but be aware it's very expensive, which I think is one of the many reasons it very often isn't done.

Re: Finally finished!
That is indeed the correct gear lever, the two tractors might have swapped them before from the appearance of the one that currently has the second type. There is a third type used at the very end with a shallow bend near the bottom. Billy's geal lever gets pretty close to the seat too, and he's in ...

Re: Finally finished!
The bend in the starter rod normally sits below the straight line between the holes for the pins, but Billy has it the other way round, and the only reason for that is that it needs to clear the unusual throttle cross shaft. https://i.postimg.cc/tJTWsqdm/2020-H13-49.jpg The gear lever is the early k...

Re: Finally finished!
I hadn't noticed but now that you say I do see the gap above the front casting. Great that you managed to keep so much of it (especially the tie rod ends as they're quite delicate, we were lucky to have some original spares for Super Billy), and as usual a pity that aftermarket suppliers can never g...

Re: Finally finished!
Good work, and yes, lots of expensive oil there! Pity it isn't completely original, but most aren't anyway, it certainly looks good and great work on the bonnet and mudguards. Nice to know the belt pulley will be used, as most are ignored.

Looking really good, quite a change from a year ago. Are the lights yet to be fitted or is this one going to stay without them? Now for the fun bit: ploughing away!

Looks good finished, I can't see the first two pics either. I see the starter rod is inspired by Billy, as is the gear lever!
