Re: Bull pinion shaft seal and bearing size

If it's the bull pinion bearing, you shouldn't need shims, I think there's a page with the sizes somewhere on here, but you should be able to find the bearing by the size code stamped on it (RLS-7 on the front auxiliary shaft for example). As for the seal, was it leaking? If a new one isn't easy to...

Re: Bull pinion shaft seal and bearing size

Also has anybody had any experience in recreating a shim or managing to find one to procure online or elsewhere?

Bull pinion shaft seal and bearing size

Hi all, I have a collapsed bearing on the LH side bull pinion shaft. I haven’t completely taken it apart and am wondering if anybody knows what size the seal and bearing are. Tah

Re: Link arms stuck up. 1963 NP super major.

Hi, all I know is that oil is free to return if the auxiliary services block is removed. I removed it and pushed the link arms down and oil came out which would suggest that the cylinder is being told it can return however the oil cannot take a pathway to return thus holding pressure in the fully up...

Re: Link arms stuck up. 1963 NP super major.

Hi sandy, link arms do not lower at all. They don’t creep down or anything when left for a long period. But they are free! I assume this is the knob closest to the steering wheel? I noticed the small shuttle it pushes with the O ring was tough to move however when I reassembled the top cover I ensur...

Link arms stuck up. 1963 NP super major.

Hi all, I’m a bit stuck. My hydraulic link arms will raise fully but will not go back down. I’ve had the cylinder off and that is not seized. None of the linkages are seized. The only thing I didn’t check is if the main control valve is stuck thinking about it now. Is this common? When I remove the ...

Re: Meshed gear noise when being pushed in neutral.

Hi there, oil level is obviously fine. I have 30 UTO in it at the mo. I just happened to have it lying around so used it instead of 90 gear oil and fordson appear to recommend it over 90 anyway. However, I’m sure the oil choice won’t quieted down this whine. Tah

Meshed gear noise when being pushed in neutral.

Hello all. I noticed that when I push my NPSM with the engine off by hand that it sounds like something is meshed. The lever is in neutral and all the brakes are off etc etc. I’m new to fordsons so I’m unsure if it’s supposed to sound like this. I’ve also noticed significant whining in high range wi...

Re: Centre bonnet hinge.

Well in the past it’s obviously got seized and somebody has snapped the channel off the one side of the bonnet trying to open it with brute force. I’ve got the hinge apart by knocking the centre bar. I could fix it by bending some tin into the channels profile and welding it onto the bonnet but the ...

Centre bonnet hinge.

Hi all, is there anywhere you can find weld on hinges for a major bonnet, this is the long centre hinge down the centre of the two halves? Tah Edit If there is no such a thing (which I suspect there is true) has anybody got any tips on how they’ve fabricated a new one or however they’ve sorted the i...

WANTED flow control assembly - 1963 NSM

After the assembly (including linkage) for a new performance super major 1963. For some reason this is missing on a recently purchased machine. The remains of the end of the linkage i.e. the spring loaded lever next to the main control lever are there... however the rest including the flow control k...
