Re: Sta-Dri cabs?

Thanks Sandy, it should be limited to road runs and the odd flat field. The cab is quite small but its something 'different' to have so i'll decide if i put it on or not. Another question - sorry. I need to sort out a number plate now i have the registation sorted out with DVLA - were the plates (pr...

I have a Sta Dri cab for my Dexta which is all complete but needs some TLC.

We're these classed as safety cabs or am i better fitting a roll bar?

Re: Bonnet Retaining Catches

Are both catches the same? They look the same to me but I am struggling to get the RH catch to well, catch.

I see there are part numbers for LH and RH which makes me thing they are different.

Any help much appreciated! I've been wrestling with the bonnet for hours today!

Dexta badges

My Dexta is a 1960 model. I'm fitting the last of the tinwork up before painting the last bits. It has the wheatsheaf badge in the top/centre of the nose cone, and the vertical nose badge. Were there any other badges on this year? There are some holes on the bonnet, right hand side when sat on the t...

Re: Pressure in the cooling system

Thanks Sandy, yes I have a AC TF3 type. I swapped it for the type with the little relief valve and have run it up to temperature with no problems. Whilst it was hot I checked that there were no combustion gases entering the coolant using the dye kit and happily all is ok. All is well. I am just look...

Re: Pressure in the cooling system

I had the coolant draining out of the tap on the block to do some further investigations. It had virtually stopped running when i flicked out the thermostat. Loads of water suddenly poured out of the tap. I've run it without the thermostat and it runs fine (thank god!!) so i wonder if there was an a...

Pressure in the cooling system

Hi everyone. I'm having constant problems with pressure in the coolant system. With the cap on it blows coolant out of the overflow tube, with the cap off it comes out of the filler neck. Because of this problem (there was also diesel vapour leaking out from the head gasket) i got the head crack tes...

Re: Dexta horn

I'm struggling to upload a photograph. I don't know why you can't just upload direct to the forum? Whilst i'm trying to sort that, i have a question on the voltage regulator...The original Lucas one has 4 terminals marked D, E A and F. The wiring loom from Agriline has wires marked D, E A F and AL. ...

Dexta horn

Hi all, Does anyone have a photograph or diagram of the internal workings of the horn? There are two youtube vids which get tantilisingly close to showing me what i need to know, but not quite! I'm pretty sure it is a Lucas and will have been fitted to loads of different tractors and cars of the tim...

Re: Starter Solenoid

A little off topic, but another question :D Where the brake shaft enters the back of the brake back plate i have a replacement washer and spring for each side. I understand this is to keep muck out of the brakes. What does the spring press against on the shaft? - it looks to me like the spring just ...

Re: Starter Solenoid

Ok thats straight forward then! On the end of the starter motor itself there are two brass studs. I guess one positive, one negative. How do I know which is which? One stud is to be connected to the body - do you know what it is connected to? The only fixings nearby are the sump bolts - does it conn...

Re: Starter Solenoid

Brilliant, thanks Sandy, there are indeed two holes hiding away which match up nicely with the hole centres on the new Lucas solenoid i have bought. The description in the old Fordson manual i am using directs me to fit it to the bulkhead..which i didn't fancy drilling for obvious reasons :? This re...

Starter Solenoid

Hello all, nearly there with my restoration :D - can anyone tell me exactly where the starter solenoid should be located within the battery compartment please? There are no witness marks from where is was originally fixed and i'd like to keep it as near to original as possible - Cheers, Paul
