Re: Valuation of this particular Dexta vigneron
ok, so the seller went quiet on this one. But another one came up at a reasonable price and I have taken a punt on it. it is a new performance super dexta vigneron. In some ways probably closer to my current dexta than the older dextas, it has the minimec and double clutch like most supers do. Will ...

Re: Valuation of this particular Dexta vigneron
i found a remax nt100 rated at 68c made in england. It is a shrouded bellows type. And according to this forum thread: https://forums.jag-lovers.com/t/new-bellows-t-stat-failure-alert/424057 it would be a suitable analog for the smiths and AC type. It's worthwhile noting that they are speaking about...

Re: Valuation of this particular Dexta vigneron
yes it has the live drive 2 stage clutch, not sure what else, no handbrake (not enough space i imagine). the defining characteristics of a true vigneron from the examples I have seen seem to be a track width of about 120cm down to 98cm (with different tyres) no foot plates, no radius rods, reversed ...

yes i think it was this particular image that was throwing me off: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Rv0VinVBgR-OQ1QZ5Hf1pT6bhpLMKqAN/view?usp=drive_link and then this one too which appears to be a vigneron like mine from a french collector with the special badge (middle right): https://drive.google....

Re: Valuation of this particular Dexta vigneron
Yes, collecting all the manuals i can get my hands on. Think I will go and see it at the very least to get a better look at the seat. If He wont budge on the price might just make an offer for the grille pressings and metal seat back instead. After having seen more marketing material on the dexta sp...

Valuation of this particular Dexta vigneron
Hello all, Hope you are all well spring has arrived the sun is out in full force in the charente, its time to dust off the Dexta and prep it for the topping season. As some of you know I own the 1964 vigneron, have given mine an oil and filter change finally and flushed the radiator etc. Hydraulic o...

Re: Dexta not starting
ok got it going. Seemed the rack was stuck it would close (go fully to the left) when i pulled the stop lever but would not go fully to the right when i pushed it the other way. used a screw driver to push it across.pressed the start lever and finally saw fuel come out of all injectors pipes at the ...

Re: Dexta not starting
I have not been able to get the excess fuel button to stay in under any condition. the throttle position seems to have no effect. from full to closed nor with any combination of positions with the stop lever. I press it in and it pops right back out immediately. is this the bolt i need to take off o...

Re: Dexta not starting
Ok thanks for the info. The stop lever is in the 10' o clock position. The excess fuel button has never stuck in since the first day i bought it. Never thought much of it because it would start without needing it. The dexta was working fine until i left it for about a year and came back to it this y...

Re: Dexta not starting
seems to be the same problem as this person https://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/threads/fordson-super-dexta-fuel-pump-problem.1111015/ i loosened all three and only the third get a rhymthic spray/spit of fuel coming out of it when pressing the starter lever. the other two seem to get barely a drop...

Re: Dexta not starting
I cant seem to get the excess fuel button to stick in wherever i put the throttle lever. I started thinking perhaps there is still air between the pump and the injectors. as while there is thin whisps of white smoke coming through on cranking, they are so faint they are barely noticeable. So with no...

Re: Dexta not starting
yes have tried the heater and primer cold start procedure as follows several times: five initial pumps on the primer. can hear it spraying. hold the heater element for 40 seconds, i hear a faint gargling noise coming from the air intake at around 20-30 second mark. push down starter lever and hold i...

Dexta not starting
Hello again, It has been a while since i have looked at the dexta. Had to go back to the UK due to unwell family members. it wont start. charged the battery to full. It is a new battery installed last spring. The Dexta was left in the poly tunnel. It was a hot summer. The same diesel is sat in the t...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
Ok so, managed to get it running again and it sounds as good as it ever did. 1st issue around starter: Tightened connection on top of solenoid. The connection that goes to the positive terminal of the battery (mine is neg ground/earth) worked loose. Probably because the battery is not strapped down ...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
yes i meant 1400 - 1800rpm. to clarify around the thermostat housing I only measured 120-130F. It was on the engine block itself just below the 2nd (middle) injector that I measured around 220c. The starter itself says Made in England on it so maybe its the original one? I presume these are not made...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
Hello again, So since I last was on here I have been giving the dexta a few test runs, after having replaced the battery and replacing the solenoid with the lucas type starter solenoid (one of the poles on on the old one was a little lose and had some play) everything seemed relatively good. from co...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
those AC TF3 thermostats are hard to find it seems. I see emiel posted one for 90 pounds from moss company. I found a tf2 on ebay but that is 80c i think. there is a good blog on these thermostats here: http://www.bobine.nl/jaguar/02-engine/thermostats-for-jaguar-xk-120-140-and-150/ for anybody inte...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
ok so I checked the thermometer by draining enough coolant to remove it. Checked with boiling water and the gauge responded pretty instantly. I noticed that when I put the thermostat housing back on with thermostat in it, during water pump change, it looked to me like it was in the open position. A ...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
gave the battery a charge til it was full. dash warning lights seem to be sorted. yellow light was not being used so i think the black wire which seems to be a custom jobby is the line to the alternator? or where ever it connects to for the charge light. purple definitely the oil switch. In this cas...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
with a bit of fiddling with the starter lever i have managed to get the solenoid to do a rapid set of clicks then it stops. Looked like the rubber boot contact above the starter was not making good contact. Checking with a multimeter on continuity setting i confirmed it was making contact after havi...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france

Now when wiring the warning lights bac...

Re: Buying a Dexta special? in france
hello again, ok so the correct thermometer finally arrived. I had to remove the wires from the oil warning and charge warning light to access and re connect them. The thermometer has been fitted. The new pump has been fitted with brass plate, new coolant hoses have been fitted and fan and radiator a...
