Re: How soon after an engine rebuild does one need to retorque.
To be honest I rebuilt my Dexta engine 18 years ago and never re-tightened the head bolts!!
I worked it hard topping straight from rebuild and since then it's been as good as gold. Maybe I was lucky!

Re: Stripped Clutch Disk Splines
I have had good results on alignment tools by measuring the outside diameter of the shaft and finding a socket with the similar shaft diameter. Once assembled the disk will have to move slightly laterally as it slides over the input shaft. Tapping the levers allow a momentarily loosening of the pres...

Re: Dexta manuals in French?
Thank you Emil for the link. I passed on the link to my French Dexta friend and he is very happy!! I have taken a look at that website and it is a mine of useful information on European tractors etc! What is also useful is the listings under paint where you can find the RAL number for all the differ...

Dexta manuals in French?
Hi everybody
I have been corresponding with a Frenchman regarding upgrading his electrics on his Dexta.
Does anyone have a copy of the Dexta manuals in French please. This would assist him greatly. He's a young man and keen on his Dexta! (Does age matter if your keen on your Dexta?)
Regards
Jerry

Re: Diesel
Slightly off topic but I've seen quite a lot of FB posts about E5 and E10 petrol affecting small engines as the Methanol additive affects older fuel lines. The idea is you add a litre of water to five litres of E grade petrol and as the Methanol is Hygroscopic it separates out of the petrol and goes...

Re the top cover being square when lifting it off for the first 2".
Remove all the bolts and then before lifting fit at least two longer bolts or better still some studs so that the top cover is guided upwards. IMHO.
Cheers

Re: Hydraulic pump relief valve - do Ineed to drain the transmission oil?
Hi Re the darft control pin. If what you are referring to is the follower pin that does wear, my memory in the distant past on this forum was the recommendation of using an equivalent size twist drill where you fit it and then cut off the excess. A twist drill is usually made of harder steel so won'...

Re: Good quality replacement parts
Surely all you need is a length of string and a big nut! Put one end of the string against the upper part of the tyre sidewall and suspend the nut so it nearly touches the ground. Measure any gap you can see or move the top of the string away from the tyre until the nut touches the sidewall. Now do ...

Re: Miscellaneous Dexta pictures
The Winch frame was made from some spare U channel I had. The winch is 12V and I ran a heavy duty cable from the battery to an Anderson socket fixed to a spare number plate bracket. My Dexta is -ve Earth as I have an alternator and Electronic Indicators fitted. The winch has a 50mm tow-ball adaptor ...

Re: Number plate light renewal..a few pics
Hi folk Just by coincidence I went to the Somerset Tractor show yesterday here in the UK. There were three Dexta's there and I took photographs of the number plates on them for Mervyn! I can't provide the photo's as I don't have a host but if you message me your email address I will email then to yo...

Re: New Exhaust
Try any exhaust/Tyre shop like Kwikfit. They should have a catalogue of standard exhausts. You just need the internal diameter of the Exhaust manifold and dimensions of the length to the silencer and length of silencer etc.

Re: How to change oil pan gaskets?
I took the new clutch plate and found a socket that had the same external diameter size as the inner diameter of the clutch plate. I made sure the socket was a tight fit on the extension and used it to line up the clutch plate with the flywheel and then tightened the pressure plate on. All OK

Re: How to change oil pan gaskets?
A little tip. When reassembling the Bell housing back onto the Engine the last few cm are the most critical as you have to have both large and heavy parts to align for them to mate and guiding them at this point is difficult. So obtain some lengths of studding (long threaded rods) the diameter of th...

Re: What lamps are used for the oil pressure and charging lamps?
Be careful what type of bulb holder you order! For the Ignition warning light it should have two wires insulated from the chassis. As one side of the bulb goes to the live terminal of the battery and the other side goes to the Dynamo output (So that when the Dynamo output voltage rises to equal or h...

Hi Ilkka
By BB I meant Bulletin Board which this forum is, as in the title phpBB.
Glad your Dexta seems to becoming looser.
I have been using my 6 foot topper in the long grass in my field today. It worked hard but then that is what Dexta's like
