Re: Radiator Cores

Hi Kav,

It is my understanding the cores are different. I don't know exactly what the differences are but I believe the P6 core is a little thinner to give more fan clearance. All Know for sure is Old Twenty list two different parts for the cores.

Re: Wanted - Fordson Roadless Rims

Hi, In the past I have purchased Roadless parts from John Bownes in the UK http://www.johnbownes.co.uk/ Richard in their parts department was very helpful and I do know they were making new front rims a few years back. If you need the cast centers as well then you may have some trouble finding them....

Re: Setting up E27N clutch

Hi Mike, I have never adjusted the pressure plate of any E27N clutch I have worked on. I have only ever just fitted new clutch plates and left everything else alone. But since you asked i did consult my Fordson Major instruction manual and on page 140 in the section To Remove Clutch in italics is th...

Some time ago I acquired 8 dome top pistons I believe are semi finished Fordson Model F pistons. They can be machined to any over size that you require up to about 120 thou over. They are currently stored in the really hard to get to I will never use these storage area, but if your pistons are dome ...

Re: Muir Hill 14 B Dumper with rock body weight

Just a thought Willsy,

Is there any chance of taking the dumper tray off and shipping it in two parts? With luck it should only be four pins you have to knock out. Most likely easier said than done on an old piece of machinery, but worth a thought.

Regards, Frank.

Re: Muir Hill 14 B Dumper with rock body weight

Hi Willsy, I can't help much with the weight either and I am presuming this is a Fordson E27N based loader, but I have it on good authority that a standard E27N fitted with a P6 will go close to 3.5 ton. A big loader may add a couple of ton on that worst case, depending on how big the bucket is and ...

Hi SR, I went to the eBay UK site and found it for you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fordson-Dexta-vineyard-/161982527463?hash=item25b6e937e7:g:G6kAAOSwUuFWvRkQ EBay has a nasty habit of blocking foreign bidders and searches won't always show what is on auction. Hi to the others reading this thread, I have passed on the complete list of bolts to Ronnie, but to clarify things for others with the same question, as others have said, most of the larger bolts are UNC or UNF. I probably should have been clearer with my answer to Ronnie. For some of the smaller bo...

Hi Ronnie, and welcome to the board. If you can find a copy of the E27N spare parts list all the standard bolts are listed in the back. In answer to your question, the bolts are not all Whitworth. Just about every thread type apart from metric is listed as being used on the E27N. I don't know if the...

Re: To The Old Fogies in our Ranks.

Hi Brian, I would say you should move to Australia and retire here, at least you would not have the licence problem you are having now. The only problem is that you would still not be able to put the tractor on a trailer and tow it with the Range Rover because you would be over weight for a car lice...

Hi Broadspeed, The Perkins P6 was used in lots of English vehicles. Hopefully some of the UK members can give you more information. The only other place I would look is in the marine forums. They were also a very popular boat motor. Both of my P6 engines came out of E27N P6 conversion tractors. Some...

Re: Gear lever snap ring

Thanks for the tips. The job is now done. I couldn't find a spring the right size Bob, but I did find that the spring hose clamp off a 1990s Ford Falcon brake booster hose was about right. I stretched it a bit and cut the wing bits off with the angle grinder and it was about the right size. A bit of...

Re: Engine for Dexta

Hi Broadspeed,

That is either a P6.288 or P6.305. The injection pump is mounted further back on the block than my P6.288 and it is fitted with an exhaust manifold out of a truck or car, but the rest of the block looks the same. My guess if I had to choose is an early P6.305.

Re: Engine for Dexta

Hi Broadspeed, I don't know how much Ford changed the Dexta block design from the original P3.144 Perkins engine it was based on, but it may be possible that one of the early Perkins P6.288 or P6.305 engines could just about bolt in. Maybe not the easiest engine to find, but you would end up with th...

Gear lever snap ring

Hi all, My gear box assembly was going very well up until now. I have the gear set in the housing with all new bearings and all clearances checked, so it was time to put the gear lever back on. The retaining spring always was on with a twist on the end and it never took much to get it to fly off. Lo...

Hi Crawlerlad, I have been lucky with my crawler and both adjusters are free. As far as I can see everybody is right with their suggestions. Hi Mike, I have done many drawings for E27N back end gaskets, but not for the engine flange. It is too wide for my laser cutter to cut out, so I have no way of checking the dimensions of the drawing. If you can, start with careful measurements of the bolt hole positions assuming a circular pattern a...

I have to agree with RW on this one. Pull the PTO shaft and drop the PTO drive box and change the PTO to Diff seal first. Even if the top seal is leaking it will not drop to dangerous levels in the gearbox and probably can be ignored. I have an E27N tractor that is split for a complete gearbox rebui...

This one looks to be all there but you need to check out the front axle carefully, not all the bits are interchangeable with GMC truck bits, in particular the short half shaft. Even the short shaft is a standard part. It is just an outer shaft that is used on the inside. I have been rebuilding an a...
