Re: Substitute fuel filter carrier

There we are modern substitution works, thanks for explanations and tips. Apparently this also fits a Massey 235, whatever, it spannered straight on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/NVNLHOBDEN/2%20filter_zpsvvjtqqal.jpg More details here - http://thebridgeclubfive.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/turne...

Re: Substitute fuel filter carrier

Thanks to both for the info above.

In the meantime, to tide me over I've ordered one of these - "Tractor Fuel Filter Head Housing Massey Ferguson Ford Case International 1/2 UNF" from eBay.

Have a look on ebay, email anyone selling dexta parts / breaking dextas.

Also try malcolm Hipperson, Bertie Dunlop etc... There should be plenty out there. :)
Many thanks.

Substitute fuel filter carrier

Events have caught up with me and the AC filter carrier I have on the tractor (see pic on link below) has finally turned to Cheshire cheese and its bleed holes will take no more drilling out and retapping. There is no direct AC replacement, and I don't know where to search for another brand although...

Re: Manifold Heater

Richard, Does your tractor have the primer pump arrangement to supply the heater, I haven't yet got back to have a look at my heater, but the part you quote looks identical to the one on my tractor but it is a 1958 dexta with primer pump. If it turns out to be the same then I would buy a new heater...

Re: Manifold Heater

My new manifold heater from Forge Services arrived this morning, excellent. Out of interest I tested it on the bench, the coil began to glow almost as soon as I hooked it up to a spare battery. Then out into the yard to fit VPF3701 while the rain persisted down. Result - much easier starting, lovely...

Hi Marcusg I suggest you download the Dexta parts list from Stephan's website, http://www.fordson-dexta.de/ Identify which bolts are required and compile a list. Some on line suppliers do selection bags of assorted sizes. You will need UNF and UNC bolts and some nuts too. I have used Namrick ( http...

Re: Manifold Heater

You may have a blocked jet Bob, it should be a squirt onto the coil when you operate the primer. Later heater units only open when the heater is operated but not the original ones. Later build tractors had a small tap on the manifold because the engine could draw fuel in past the primer and flood t...

Re: Changing rear axle / hydraulics oil

Many thanks for the foregoing, this morning I was in the fortunate position of attempting to remove the drain plug from my 1964 this morning lying on cardboard over concrete in full daylight with no rain falling. Bliss. I am pleased to report that a 15mm open-ended spanner, encouraged by No. 2 Mediu...

Roll bar off

It was a cold but spring-like day and our neighbour was ploughing us a nice new fruit and veg plot using a big red modern tractor so I was at a loose end. For some time now I've been thinking that the roll bar on my Super Dexta is superfluous, so I took it off. Well I took the top part off. What a d...

Any water (ice) in the bottom of the steering box? A fair question to which I have no ready answer. Obviously an oil change or somesuch goes to the top of my "Chores List" for when the slightly warmer weather comes. If there were water in the steering box would that have a unilateral effect? Time f...

No Left Turn

My Superdexta has been doing well in the ice and snow albeit with some fairly shabby starting techniques employed by its owner. Anyway it started this morning after only a small amount of cheating and all was more-or-less functional until I wanted to turn left. The port front wheel would only turn l...

Many thanks both. After some thought I decided to support the lever in a vice and use use the screwdriver to drive the snap ring in the direction of the gear knob. How do you remove the gearstick from its plate?

Not being a welding sort of person I have purchased a new main gearstick for my Super Dexta. So far, so good. Sadly my efforts to get the old stick out of the gearbox top plate have not been productive. I have searched this site and the old site to no avail. I would be obliged if someone could point...

Insurance certificate (on the VIN) What's this? Surely you can't get an insurance certificate if you haven't got a V5? Apparently it's quite normal. When I restored an unregistered motorcycle I had it insured on the frame number so I could ride it to its first MOT inspection. Rode it there and back...

I registered mine last month. It was fairly easy, I enlisted the help of the Cornish Tractor Club and followed their instructions. Thanks RossM Mine's a 1964 (April) and scruffy as can be. I got an age-related registration for it last month so I'm learning to drive it on the road, which is interesting. I've had a look through the parts book link without any joy. I'll try again this evening. Wiring loom? What wiring loom?! -----...
