Re: Sump info

Sure the Cargo motor, fits in Major. You have to modify, the oil pump suction pipe, and use electric fan.

Re: Sump info

Flywheel should be same, in tractor and lorry. Tractor´s 13" clutch is smoother to use. You should measure that sump, maybe it wont be suitable.

Re: 4600: OK Where's the fuel gauge sender hiding ?

Sender should be behind the meter panel, on the tank :

But also broken stabilizer gives false readings.

Re: 4600: OK Where's the fuel gauge sender hiding ?

If you have problems with both, fuel gauge and temperature gauge, the reason might be broken voltage stabilizer. The stabilizer is behind meter panel.

Re: Hydraulic pump

Yes, worn pump. Too much axial clearance, or do you say, end play is too big. You have to grind or sand down the pump body. :D
hopefully you understand my bad language....
Another way is to do shim plates, behind the bearing cups.

Re: 38 inch rear's

With 16,9x38" you must have at least 10x16" front tyres. And 11" clutch also easily starts shaking, when you slip clutch at crawling speed.
But with 6 cyl. engine they are OK.

Re: FSM Gearbox bearings

Hello, the old NF type bearings can be replaced to NJ type. NJ type bearings are easier to find. In my 1962 Super, gearbox bearings are 6211 , 1 each, 55x100x21 mm 6212 , 2 each, 60x110x22 mm 6214 , 1 each, 70x125x24 mm 6307 , 1 each, 35x80x21 mm 6406 , 1 each, 30x90x23 mm NJ 305, 3 each, 25x62x17 (...

Ford Custom truck motor, maybe 2707 E and 365" cid ? 2700 series stamp can be found, from bottom of aluminium sump. Unless somebody had it changed to metal sump. Engine type from right side, upper back corner of block ( 360 / 365 / 380 etc ... ). The oil filter depends, if the housing has been fitte...

Sure it can be welded, for example grind some material off and fit long nuts into hole.
Previous owner had drilled two extra holes

Re: industrial gearbox and back end in to super major

I suppose that ment to be 45 km/h. It´s possible with Cargo 6 motor, with 16.9x34 tyres goes 43-44 km/h, measured gps. Quite revving and extended super major begins bouncing easily. :yikes:

Re: power major aux hydraulics modifications

Hi, If you only drill and tap the original cover plate, it does not work quite well. Something like this should work, ( click the picture and it gets bigger ): http://i3.aijaa.com/t/00023/8838595.t.jpg http://i10.aijaa.com/t/00525/8838648.t.jpg This plate has 3/8 inch passages. I managed to get one ...
