Re: Power Major Fuel Problems
Thanks for the ideas. I ordered and received a new fuel filter, a glass bowl seal and fuel pump repair kit. I am hoping that one of the three do the job.

Power Major Fuel Problems
I am having some Fuel issues with my Power Major. I recently replaced the fuel tank because it had so many holes in it that i leaked more fuel than I used. The tractor ran fine before I replaced the fuel tank. The tank that I put on it was sandblasted, cleaned and then treated with POR15, So I am 99...

Thanks all, the pics are very helpful. One thing I see is the gear being so close to the housing makes me concerned if I can get a gear puller on it. If I'm just replacing o rings will I need to pull the gear off? Again thanks. If your talking about the BIG gears they just slide off once you loosen...

Is this the seal I am looking for? and should I replace the bearing as well? http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/maddyn99/Projects/Tractor%20Misc/PTOSeal-2.jpg I also found this Tool on the old forums. Does this look right? I am assuming all the majors have the same seal? http://i67.photobucket.c...

I have the same problems with the seals, I have the light version originally mounted, I ordered the UK (heavy duty) version at agriline. Where can I get the light (US) version, are these still available? thanks, Arno Gubbels You might try these guys. Only other place in the US that has a decent sel...

I did mine by taking the top off, but here is what a Power Major looks like. The bottom after reassemble. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/maddyn99/Projects/Tractor%20March/P1010281.jpg Top part with tube. Note tube just slides into PTO pump and top with an O ring. http://i67.photobucket.com/a...

Leak between the Rear End and Transmission?!?
I knew things were going too well on my restoration. No major snags so far until this last weekend when I started filling her up with fluids. I filled up the rear end with 9 gallons of oil and it was a bit low. The transmission was almost bone dry and I put I think around 6 or 8 gallons in the trann...

Gauges/Electrical Questions
I ordered a new Oil/Gen/Temp combo gauge that looks like this.... http://www.waltstractors.com/acatalog/5125-temp.jpg Does anyone know if the are supposed to work on 6v or 12v systems. At one point my Generator on my 58 Power Major was replaced with an Alternator and 12V battery. There were no gauge...

Re: Fordson Restoration - correct colours
My father gave me the Fordson on which I learnt to drive in 1958 as a present. I want to restore this tractor to match the "picture in my memory" on the day when we received it on the farm. Regarding restoration I am a complete novice, pse bear with my questions. Tractor has been cleaned very thoro...

Did you try just hammering it on? The ones I bought were also from Agriline. By the way, how did you get the outer part of the bearing out ? :) That was the hardest part of the job I thought. We used something similar to this. http://www.drillspot.com/products/430377/Westward_1MZP9_Axle_Bearing_Rem...

If the seals didn't fit .. I suggest you contact the guys that made them. Because it should just slide on, you shouldn't need to cut them up like that. When I put the seal back on the axle housing, I found a hammer with a piece of wood help knocked it on okay without damaging it. Also, remember to ...

Here is what we ran into. The seal would not go on far enough to allow the bearing to go all the way onto the axle. http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h320/maddyn99/Projects/Tractor%20-%20Jan%202010/P1010215.jpg So we had to modify the seal to make it fit. The bearing goes on just fine, the problem is the size of the seal. We ended up cutting off a portion of the metal on the seal on the one we haven't put the bearing on yet so it wasn't too bad. The other one has the bearing pressed on already. So its gonna be a cutting wheel and a prayer  Ill t...

Rear Axle Seal
I am replacing the real axle seals and bearings on my 58' Power Major, and have run into a bit of a problem. The new seals dont seem to go down on the axle enough to put the bearings on all the way. How close do the seals need to be to the bearing? Are they supposed to touch or is there supposed to ...

when I changed the oil in the back end, I also cut out a new gasket out of gasket paper. Worked a treat, just a little fiddly with the old scissors. Pity no one makes gaskets for these old tractors. I have the two gaskets from the bottom two pieces. They look like they were made out of plastic. Not...

Re: Power Major Transmission Filter
Learn something new here all the time. I need to get my manuals outl. Did not know the transmission had a filter, where is the filter located? Gerald At the bottom of the rear axle there is a drain plug and two plates. The drain plug of course drains the oil. The first plate allows access to the fi...
