When I first got my Dexta she wouldn't rev past 1450 rpm. Opened up the pneumatic governor and found that the spring had rusted through at one point and thus failed. Had a new spring made as replacement ones were not available then, and has revved fine since. This might be worth checking. Regards John

Hi Terry and Alan Thought I would add my next post here rather than on my thread ‘Oil in Exhaust’. My Dexta is a ‘59 without the later inline stop tap. I wondered if it might be a problem with too much fuel in the air manifold. Will start her up again at the weekend and see if there is the same problem and take it from there.

fingers crossed!

Hi Rob

The splashing certainly looked like wet soot, but the tractor is dry stored!

Oil in Exhaust

Started the Dexta up this afternoon and the great surprise and horror there was a huge amount of smoke from the exhaust. This must have gone on for 2-3 minutes before it settled down. Engine did not sound any dfferent to usual so I let it run rather than shut it down. I found that some splashes of w...

Hi Terry I have had a similar problem with the primer pump. Had the tank off and cleaned it, fitted a filter in the tank and renewed the fuel lines but it still only works intermittently, say once or twice every ten pumps. I have come to the conclusion that a new primer pump is called for. Having se...
