its a bit hard to tell but of the two showing the machine face mine is a little different. i seem, hard to tell though that it looks more like the one on the tractor. hopr to get some more time to work on it. winter is just around the corner and so much to do.

well i had no luck trying to get the lift arms to work. took all apart there was water in there. the valve was stuck but not bad, everything freed up quite nicely. no signs of rust. got everything moving freely, i however did not do any settings. the arms would not raise at all. i want to check pump...

am selling a 1957 fordson major diesel. starts good , smokes at first then cleans up as it warms up tires are so so. i yet have to put in another flywheel as the ring gear is bad, i have one here. 3 pt seems to work good. $2000 OBO. located in salmon arm British Columbia.

finally got the injection pump to a shop. someone in thier wisdom had messed with the fuel supply screw, poor thing was hardly getting any fuel. now it starts a whole lot better.

working on a fordson new major. was pretty rough when i started on it. was siezed, put in new rings. major oil leak from front tranny chamber to rear, put in new lower seals. everthing now is good sure starts good. oil levells seem good. it has been leaking antifreeze not huge amts, out of the block...

minemic injection pump
has anyone tried some repairs on these pumps themselves or is srtictly a professioal shop job. i somewhat susoect min is faulty as it starts terribly, even with new injectors.

well i had the injectors done, but not the pump. tappets have been set, but want to reset, and timing was checked. however it is noe that time of year when it is near impossible to make it work. thanks for the info.

well got new pump installed, oil pressure is now about #45 to just below 50 with the gage presently on it, the is not working under a load because i have nothing fot it to do, just normal temp, am much happier with that, now if i could just figuire why it stars so pourly. thanks for the reply.

purchased a new oil pump from agriline, for super. question bieng does anyone know what the relief spring pressure is set at? and or is necessary to shim the new pump spring psessure? i hope to achieve close to #50, the motor is totally rebuilt.

i have rebuilt the FSM . it is hard to start, has now new injectors. compression using an old injector says 3oo on one to 325. i know thats not great, and am hoping it will get better. has not run much more than an hour since rebuild. however the old major starts great with no better compression. an...

ya i suppose i am kind of fussy. kind of enjoy working these old things. it doesnt vary that much hot or cold. that bieng said i have no place to workit can only let it warm up. just for curiosity sake i got the timing cover off and put a couple small shims under the spring, will see what that will ...

thanks a lot for the info guys. i compared the sumps today, it deffinately is not as deep by the oil pump as the super major, also it does have the big aluminum plate on the sump drain. tomorrow will try and see if the relief valve is in the timing cover.

well it deffinately looks like an R. yes it is a vacum style gov. on inj. pump. under the exhaust are the nos. L5Z then under that is a 3.dont know if all this helps or not. i just want to determine if the oil pump has its relief vale on the pump, or in the timing cover. thank again.
