Discing with my major

Hello again everyone. Been away for a bit due to computer bits and pieces, but back again. Just thought I would put a picture of my freshly painted major getting her new tyres dirty. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u61/Huzey68/major002.jpg http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u61/Huzey68/013.jpg Ju...

are you going to tart the brown up too? If so you've got your work cut out! Not planning to, just get her up together electrics wise and get the door stuck back on, oh and stop the cab roof from leaking! Mechanicaly she is sound, just needs a bit of time to get all the guages and lights working. Hu...

Say Huzey, it sure looks swell. :D Was wondering if you are going to put the loader back on being that the lights are on top? Dandy Dave! Hi Dave The loader will go back on eventualy. Got to get a ram resealed and give the boom a coat of paint, or might even look for another boom as mine is a littl...

Hi Chris
I got the tyres from a chap I used to work for, and I paid £380 for all four. Plus I sold all four of the old ones to go on a Nuffield so got a bit back on them.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Huzey, come on do tell us about your new project even if its not blue! Ok Ross, it is a david brown 996 with a power loader from 1978. Needs a bit of loving as it came from a dairy farm I reckon, but will be put to good use on my little veg growing project and will save the major which is no...

Hi Ross
I put about 3 coats of blue on, plus the odd bit of touching up with a brush on the hard to reach bits.
Still got a few little bits to do, but have just taken delivery of my next project, which unfortunately, isn't blue!

Nice job you have done there Ian. Always satisfying to get something useful from what other people view as scrap. I have got a 3 ton tipper trailer to do after I finish the major.
Nice pussy too, though has he been overcome by paint fumes? :D

Mervyn Spencer wrote:Hi Huzey, your tractor's looking great well done. Please can you explain what you mean by "BLOOMING" :?:

Thanks Mervyn
Hi Mervyn.
Blooming is where the paint absorbs moisture from the atmosphere before it is fully dry, and it goes cloudy or milky and looses gloss and basicly looks crap!

http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u61/Huzey68/1major0001.jpg Nose repaired and sprayed yesterday, but sadly it has bloomed on the top where I wasn't quick enough to get it in the kitchen overnight, so am going to have to respray it. Thought I would fit it anyway. Front wheels also sprayed and new ...

Dave is dead right, Dave. :? :D The lights are on the top as it has got a loader fitted, and I think the boom would knock the lights off the side as it goes up and down. Thanks Dave for the compliments. Just got the front wheels sprayed up in orange, and a few of the ancilliaries in blue like the ai...

You do not have to be as fussy with the paint on a tractor, as you do with the restoration of an automobile. This is very true Dave, but the fuel tank was awfull, it had more runs than the london and new york marathons put together. I would have to sit and look at it every time I drove it, and it w...

Huzey, How far are you with your rebuild and spraying? Too many :run: The bottom was ok, but the top was awfull. Still dodging the rain at the ...
