water pump rebuild or new
how do you know when you should just pay up and buy a whole new water pump? Its making some noise(more than the motor) it leaks a little but it still pumps like a... thing is $30 to $120 i know a new pump would be shiny and easy but what do i look for in the old one to know that it is beyond repair?...

block changed from 144 to 152 Problems?
hi all recently told that my 58 block has been changed to a 152 what sort of problems can i expect here. Took motor into the shop a few weeks ago as not enough compression to start and generally really stuffed. Was under the impression that it was originally fitted with the F3-144 so ordered kit etc...

it's free!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the info guys a little time and lots of spray with some friendly persuasion and slowly it came off. Was a little greasey and sticky inside though but it looks like a very slow leak from the seal in there somewhere. I think i will just have to ignore for a little while ...

unfortunately i did remove the 2 screws and realese the shoes i wish it was that easy. :( I am going to give it another go today it has had all night to think about what it is doing and how badly it has behaved.. When you say remove the half shaft are you suggesting to undo the bearing retainer bolt...

Thanks guys . will change out seal is there anything else i should make sure i do while the tractor is split? also tips for changing the seal . do i simply remove the thrust bearing and forks for easy access to seal or is it going to be complicated ? bugger where did i get the idea that it was a p3-144? thought for some reason the 1958 was 144.. will have to get my head around it all again. should i have said F3 144? as requested here are some pics of the front end loader bucket and set up . the hydraulics run of the ancilary and the return goes to the rear diff.
