Thanks Frank, I'll have to measure that fan clearance. I think that the tractor may have been a P6 conversion, so it could be a problem.

Radiator Cores
Can anybody tell me if the Radiator Cores in the E27N's were different between the Petrol/kero tractor and the P6 Diesel Tractors. I have two radiators here, one has 47 cores and the other which has the P6 generator cutaway, has about thirty, spaced out further. Thanks, Kav.

Re: Super Major Brakes
Thanks for your replies, Kev and Skidrow. Today I made a puller and welded it to the Brake disk as you described Kev and I got it off. It was badly rusted on, and I had to weld it properly all the way round, and even then I had to really pull hard with a three foot bar on the three-quarter inch bolt...

Super Major Brakes
Can anybody give me some ideas on how to remove a seized inner brake disk on the left side of a 1963 Super Major. When I got the tractor, the brake was totally seized as it was rusted onto the inner housing. I have got the outer disk off, and the inner one is now free from the housing, but I cannot ...

Re: Looking for info on this Interesting Raised PTO mod
From what I remember , the gearbox ratios in the last of the Australian Super Majors ( with the Grey wheels) was changed. I think that fourth gear was slightly slower and the gearing in the front drive of the PTO was slowed down also. Obviously this slowed the Hydraulic Pump down and would have made...

Australian Diesel Red Wheel Colour
I'm sure I have seen it somewhere before , but I can't find it now, but had anybody got a paint colour, or a formula, for the Red wheels on the Australian Farm/Power/Super Major Diesels- not the Orange colour that is often quoted here. Thanks - Kav.

Years ago I had the same trouble with a 1954 Diesel Major. After I put new slipper bearings in , the oil pressure did not increase. I eventually found that the relief valve was not seating properly and at about 15-20 psi, most of the oil was going through the valve. I changed the relief valve and go...

Hi everybody, In Australia, Malcolm Moore built a lot of E27N Fordson graders. The belt pulley was live on them which worked the controls. There were also a lot of McCormack- International Graders based on the W6 tractors. They had Dual 24 inch wheels on the back. Chamberlain was the most modern tra...

Hi everybody. During the early 1950's some of the Ford dealers here in Australia were fitting the Perkins L4 to the E27N tractors. Prior to that there were supposed to have been 68 E27N tractors fitted with the L4 by Ford, before the release of the P6. Because the P6 was not running to full capacity...

Back axle bearings
Hi all - The method that I have used many times is similar to what you describe except that, depending on the size of the bearing, I do three or four short, thick welds across the cup roughly evenly spaced around the bearing. I use a weaving motion to build it up fairly thick, about an inch wide, an...

Hi Pete - I think it is just part of the cab arrangement, to seal the floor and pedal areas. You can see where there have been doors on both sides hinged from the centre panel, and the boxes are the door step and there is a lower step to climb up. I have seen a similar thing in a photo years ago. It...

Hi Kev, I have a Super Major which has had one of those fitted a long time ago. Hi Eric and everybody- I'm not far behind you in age Eric I'm 64 and I was three years old when my father sold the Cork Fordson. Hi Frank and all, I think there are some more changes or different colours in the pre-WW2 Fordsons as my father had a tractor in 1947 which had done a lot of work as it had an engine rebuild and gearbox bearing replacement at that stage. This tractor was definitely identified as being made in Cork w...

Hi Super6 - From memory, there used to be a tacho drive adaptor which slides down into the block to connect to the oil pump very similarly to a distributor on a petrol engine. You may be able to machine up one out of an old distributor. I think there used to be a petrol engine in a truck which had a...
