The sensor end bolt does unscrew to reveal the sensor slotted in, but, if it has been in place for a long time it can be hard to remove. If it does not come easily I have used penetrating oil to help but be careful not to break the pipe off. There may be some other good tips to do this.

You could give Ron Greet near Totnes in Devon a try as he breaks many tractors. Put details in your search engine for contact numbers.

Nowadays most people have a welder handy so don't think about the outcome of having to dismantle at a later date. Thinking back to the Fifties and Sixties it was only the local blacksmith who had a welder therefore Farmers then drilled and bolted plates over broken items to save cost, while the blac...

I had the experience of going by boat from Liverpool to Uruguay and Argentina in 1960. Amongst the cargo loaded were skid units of International tractors from Doncaster, and none had wheels. On asking where the wheels where, I was told that most importing countries supplied wheels and local tyres of...

Before you throw the guage away, just check the thermostat is working. I did the same as you and replaced the guage and found the new one did the same, and it was the thermostat not working. Worth sticking any guage end in a cup of boiling water which should make it shoot up.

Very nice looking restoration and looking very smart, well done. Which tyre black have you used as it gives a lovely shine.

Ben,

Many thanks for braving the snow to get the photos. It starts to make sense if ratchet mounted to the wing as presumably the wing stays give it support.

Ben,

Thanks for that it seems a good way of repairing. Do you have a further photo showing where the ratchet fits to keep the handbrake locked in position as I cannot figure that bit out yet.

Dexta handbrake

Am just restoring a 1964 Super Dexta and the handbrake has rotted through just below the rubber hand grip. Does anyone know where I could purchase a replacement, or where I could get a line drawing showing all fitments to try and reconstruct one from maybe parts of a caravan handbrake.

Thanks, David
