Unload valve

I’ve just took the lid off my super major and valve was stuck so now it’s removed the oring is no good what’s my best option can I just put it back in with out oring will it all work ok? or try to find an oring

Yeah it’s not much I’ve made a gasket to take up difference fingers crossed it should be ok it’s not gonna see a lot of work

I have splines showing but when I put a straight edge across disc to brake housing The disc are just further out

I haven’t got the facilities to mill or lathe so I was trying to do something that I could sort myself the disc seem almost identical size to the old ones I took out but the actuator is slightly thicker so I guess if I measured the difference then that would be the size of my shim, I’m not sure if i...

I’ve got it all slack, but the actuator is slightly thicker than original but my old one is beyond repair so I think I will have to make a steel gasket for end plate it wouldn’t need to be very thick il have to measure but I would think 1mm would be enough

Super major brakes

Hi all, I’ve just replaced brake disc and actuators on my super, but when I put end plates on there’s no clearance and you can’t turn axles, adjuster screw is right in. Has anyone else had this problem (agriline parts) I’m thinking of shimming end plate with some shim steel it’s not much that I need

If I get the chance of a boughton I would buy it, they are getting hard to get in uk, I find them good for heavy pulls for lighter stuff a more modern skidding winch is better. I'm looking for one at moment to put on super major

it's a shame to sell after all the work you put in, I think you will miss it when it's gone I did so I went and bought another but needs a lot of work, if I was closer I would be interested in yours :D

Yeah I had that apart it's a stronger spring than that, I've put the top back on now. I've not put oil back in yet so we shall see if if it works. I'm hoping someone dropped it in. :D

Yeah filter all seeed ok, but this spring was quite strong, almost the same as the ones on linkage in lid but shorter and maybe slightly thicker wire

Whilst I had the hydraulic top off my super major I thought I would give it a bit of a clean inside and I've found a little spring, it's a bit mangled but it's probably about 2" long and 1/2" wide any ideas where this could come from I can't see anything Missing from hydraulic linkage and I've googl...

I did get it out but I had to weld a bolt on end and wind it out the other one tapped out quite easily then the left hand one with the bad bearing teeth are pretty chipped up, the diff lock side bearing isn't so bad but needs changing teeth are good so I need a new shaft for left hand side and two b...

Well I've had a good go at it and I can't get either side to come out, I'm thinking of welding a bolt on end of shaft and rig up a puller and see if that works

I've just popped out and tried pulling shaft out but won't budge so I've tried pulling whole lot out and it will come out about 10mil and stop and I've put levers behind and I've tried threading bolts in threaded holes to push it off but it's not budging any ideas or should I try other side and if t...

Ok cheers I will have a go later, the bearing has had it the cage has completely gone, so hopefully I can purchase new bearings, I haven't took the diff lock side off yet but I'm guessing both sides will be the same :roll:

Super major brake shaft

Hi all I was going to replace seal behind brakes on super major and now found that the bearing is worn out how do I remove shaft, I've got brake housing off will the shaft just pull out or have I got to remove top and work from inside cheers any info appreciated

The yoke has broken where the pin passes through the hole, it looks like it will just undo I was worried about something dropping to bottom, I guess il just wind it out and see but I can't find a replacement as of yet, but thanks for pic

Super major top link yoke

Hi my top link yoke has broke through where pin goes, I can turn it freely if I find a replacement is it just a matter of unscrewing old one and thread in new one or has hydraulic lift got to come off?

I'm also on the ford and fordson site on Facebook, and with the way the new smart phones have got I find it a much easier way to add pictures or a quick post, that site lacks the technical info you can get here, so I think it would be good we had this site on there aswell :D

Ok cheers my tyres are worn and I know of a pair of front hubs and wheels off a super major and I prefer the lighter steel wheels :D

Front hubs

Hi all I've got a diesel major with cast front wheels, if I want to change to steel wheels will the front hubs from a later major fit my axle/spindles or is there more to it than that? Cheers any advice appreciated
