Thought I would give you an update on the old Hymac engine. After changing the injectors it still seemed to run rough at high speed. (popping and spiting). It also smoked more than it had when I first bought it (Blue). Thought I would give the scouring powder a try. Ran the engine without cleaner an...

Brian Did you mean that the other machines do not show on the link? There should have been a Chaseside crane. Dandy D. That would be a large oil drum! I would not be too sure of lifting that with any thing other than a very light material. I would of thought a machine of that build/era would have ma...

Some of the Ford D series engines were turboed from new at about 140hp iirr. I cannot remember if they were 330s or 360 (cu in). As already said (and I know next to nowt) the sump out of a early cargo or D series would be wrong due to engines being inclined. I think the reference to custom cab in an...

Grani we had a major based Weatherill 12H fitted with a Brockhouse t/c and would have put it at about 1959/60. It was quite quick forward and back when adjusted right but it would easily get too hot and then would hardly drag its self along. Even in the late 70s early 80s parts were impossible. A fa...

I don't think I can copy and paste. It is worth signing up to CMN, they have many pictures of old plant and trucks.

Ah Brian, you were nearly on the flatest part of Essex!

Would have loved to have gone to the Suffolk farm sale last week near Hadleigh, some very interesting old machines.

They look so much smarter with the grill in the correct silver.

What made you change to the UK look? (rather than export grill and wheels).

Yes great scenary Steven.

Looking at the wheel colour on yours I note that it looks fairly subdued. Do folk make the mistake of painting with an orange that is too bright and hard?
Were does the clour lie in relation to say Nuffield or Howard oranges?

'62 Super Major

Hi All This afternoon I was looking at a very nicely restored orange wheel super. I know this has been talked about quite a lot but here are some finishing questions. Colour of grill? Colour of front badge? Colour/type of side bonnet bages? Was everything coated in blue at the factory? They had to u...

Thanks for the reply Brian. He has borrowed a w/s manual for the new major but I just wondered if there is any thing peculiar to the Super. Also can he use a shaft from any model of Major?

Broken rear drive shaft

Hi
F in L's early Super has just severed the left wheel. Any pointers as to removal of said shaft would be appreciated. Is then anything to be careful with when removing the top cover (and replacing).

Great photos ( I will duck but I always find the conversions more exciting than plain ag!) Is the chain on the stabilizers for safety, for lifting them or because part of the hydraulic system is inop? Power steering looks a different make from the UK ones. Interesting that the tractor was supplied w...
