Re: Tachometer seized.
Looks like mine had been opened before There were dents and bezel seemed to be split, and possiblely had been silver soldered… unless that was a factory seam. Can see why needle moves but clock does not. The worm gear turns but the plastic gear and hour meter drive is seized, and all teeth have been...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
Yes in reality olives are only one time use..but when you do not have any, wont be the first time it has been done! The tap end does still leak..so will need to get new one(s). But that is next month ..off to France tomorrow. Put a filter on the tap ? though there was a gauze one inside it any way ?...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
Interesting about the castings, thanks Put a proper piece of fuel pipe to lift pump yesterday…,had to reuse the old olives by drilling them out !😂 Seems to NOT be leaking. Looked inside fuel tank, and blew air up through the tap. as a quick way to see if it chucked loads of sediment out up back in t...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
Well I got her running this afternoon, and she does not sound well. A random odd firing sound… then it is fine…then odd sound agsin… thinking valve train issues… Will put a video up on YouTube shortly. Regarding the atomiser tap.. yes, it does have one, but it has been fitted hidden..ideally need it...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
Oh, no don’t want a singke clutch. Was just surprised to find it appeared to have one. Resistance and ammeter will show well enough it is working or not. The less I disturb at the moment tye better. Interesting about the tap. I had been told it was changed to prevent fuel leakage in to the inlet to ...

Re: Davie
You say ‘As there are no weights in the wheels’ but did you mean there ARE weights in the wheels. If you had wheel weights, then a weight frame might be pointless, but with no wheel weights a Vicon or 600 litre sprayer on the back definitely needs from weight. Dad used to put a couple of 50kilo sack...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
Yea, wiring diagram, I did find correct one. It is printed out and waiting to be used. https://www.tractorforum.com/attachments/dexta_wiring-pdf.88707/ Yes, that fuel filter.. totally daft, I have taken out and checked the original filter… did not have one in stock… but it flows fine for now. No cop...

Re: Starter motor / polarity direction
It seems to be a new tap / primer pump assembly that has been fitted, but the plastic filter did not have any clips holding it. But yes, I see what you are saying, should be no restriction to fuel being sucked. Easy to remove the rubber hose from tank to see how much flow. Tank only has 3 litre of f...

Re: Davie
I’ll read again on computer but my thought on the front cut out is that it looks more like it was done for a weight frame attachment point rather than just a registration plate. Cutting the front beam to bring the wheels in a bit narrower was common over here in Jersey too, although not to such a dr...

Tachometer seized.
Any one ever taken apart a tacho or any one know of common failures of them? This one on my recent acquisition..a 1958, the input shaft is seized. Had a little heat on it and some duck oil, and it has a little movement, maybe 1 or 2 degrees, but does not turn. Opening it looks like an uncrimp the be...
