Air pre filter problem
Hi all, just a heads up if you have bought or are thinking of buying a pattern part pre air filter( little dome shaped thing on top of the air filter) make sure the openings are big enough to let in enough air. As I found out by chance today the one I bought was restricting the performance by restri...

It's clear that this job, tricky as it is, is not going to beat him. Mind you .......... :needpics: Best Adrian  I'm gonna have a go at pics tom...

let me know.
Many thanks Mark

Re: Cross lift shaft removal
The reason for changing the shaft is that the spline was nearly non existent through rust which probably caused the lift arm to spin on the splines. Looks like more expense
I'll try an engineers shop with a press I think

Re: Cross lift shaft removal
Thanks Robert
I had thought in desperation to try cutting the shaft either side of the push rod removing the centre piece so I can get to it easier and try drifting it out. Is that possible or is the shaft hardened?

Re: Cross lift shaft removal
Thanks Brian, can you tell me which way the shaft needs to come out as the off side lift arm is seized on.
I should mention I'm changing the shaft and lift arms as agriline replacement lift arms won't fit on original
Cross shafts due to them being made with a locating key way.

Re: side belt pulley
My super major seems to do the same in tick over, I just wedge a sponge between the guard and the pulley and that stops it. I wonder if a slightly thicker gasket would help between pulley housing and the gearbox

I've had the tractor about a year and have driven it only about 600 yards as its been sat in the garage doing not a lot.. I'm not sure of the history but when I got the tractor there was 12 litres of oil in the engine due to the wrong dip stick being used, the rear core plug had been repaired with f...

Re: Replacement gearbox oil
Thank you for the reply fnoller. At least now I won't need to replace the oil, only top it up as its quite low.
Didn't realise how low until I fitted a belt pulley and the oil was at least 2 inches down from the opening for the pulley![Does this make sense? :scratchhead:](./images/smilies/headscratch.gif)

Replacement gearbox oil
Hi all May i be one of the first to wish all a very merry Christmas  I have a question regarding gear oil in my super major. No air bubbles coming up through coolant and wouldnt say she was over filled but did whip the stat out and drilled a 3mm hole in it to allow air to escape and it seems to have done the trick  no coolant pooring out any more. Should the radiator cap be a pressurised one. Reason for asking is th...
