Engineer in Norfolk to fix my hydraulics?
Hello Is anyone able to recommend an engineer based in Norfolk who would carry out an "on site" visit to repair my Dexta's hydraulics? I am based North of Norwich. The arms only lift about half way up in position control, and will lift to the top in qualitrol, if you hold the selector lever vertical...

Couple of questions - correct top link pin & mirrors
Hello I drove my Dexta to its summer home last weekend. It was a great drive of around 15 miles and my Dexta happily went along at nearly 19mph! I hope to do some discing, cultivating and mowing this weekend. I realised when I got home that I have lost my top link pin, as I havent got her in the gar...

Were these guards standard fit? Did a particular company make them or did many Dexta owners fabricate their own? I have seen a number of different designs.

Swinging drawbar bolts/studs
I got underneath my Dexta this afternoon and was shocked to see that my swinging drawbar was held on by just 3 bolts! The rest of them were missing! Is there any supplier that supplies these? I need 4 of the longer bolts and 1 of the shorter as my Dexta also has a handbrake fitted. Thanks in advance...

How to fit new heater button rubber

Is there a trick to fitting a new heater button rubber? Can it be fitted without removing the dash panel?
Cheers!

Dexta fuel pipe sought
Hello,
Not sure if anyone is breaking a Dexta or has a spare available but I am seeking the fuel pipe that runs from the primer pump / tap round to the inlet manifold. All online suppliers are out of stock, failing this I guess I will have to try and make one!
Cheers,
NCFCDexat

Reading recommendations - Dexta books
Are there many publications out there about the Dexta? I am aware of Condie's book and have ordered a copy. There are a number of books about Fordsons' red and grey cousins but I am struggling to find any about Dextas. If there is no specific Dexta book, is there a larger publication that covers up ...

Re: Dexta casting code query
Oh thats a shame! I am not lucky enough for things like that to happen to me! I must admit I didnt make a note of the other numbers  Interestingly, it was fitted with industrial wings, a type of drawbar I have not seen before, had no ignition key and no warning lights on the upper dash panel.

Hi Brian Are you serious?! So is this what is known as a pre production Dexta? Unfortunately, she has been stood under a tarp outside for 2 years and the radiator leaked when we filled it, and when a battery was connected it smoked and cracked a little although it did turn over!! What other ...

Dexta casting code query
Today I found that the Dexta bug had totally bitten as I found myself going to view another Dexta hoping to bring my compliment up to 2. The Dexta was the early model however the casting code on the right hand side confused me. On my Dexta and all others I have seen, the code is 957E with Enfo and o...

Thanks Brian, I thought that would be the case.
Its so frustrating, I want to get her out on the road but cant until the new wings are painted
Bloomin' English weather! Having said that, have a new primer pump, temp gauge and rocker cover gasket to fit in the mean time!

Re: Restoration (respray) opinions
I am now in a position to start painting. First of all I am going to paint the wings and the rear axle. Is it ok to apply red oxide primmer in the current temperatures we are experiencing? Or do I need to wait and hope the weather get better (will be sprayed indoors). I am planning to apply 2 coats ...

Multi-coloured Dextas (well different shades of blue)
I have seen a number of Dexta's similar to one currently for sale on an online auction site. There are different shaded of blue present, is one an undercoat, was this a farmer slapping on some different paint or is it a bitsa tractor? I have attached a photo as an example.

Hello Thank you for your informative replies. This is certainly a relief that I should be able to respray without the need for having her sand blasted. Hi guys
Thanks for this, my headlights have a tractor image in the centre so are clearly the wrong ones!
I will scour the net for a set of original lenses if I can find them.
Thanks and regards,

Hello all As you can see in my other posts, I have purchased a number of new items for my Dexta. Re: Engine oil queries
WOW!
Thank you for all your replies. I had no idea how much oil costs and how hard it is to find the right stuff.
As I wont be working her too hard or often, how frequently would one change the oil? As recommended by the manual or less frequently?
Thanks again

Engine oil queries
I am going to replace the oil in the engine, transmission and rear axle. I have looked at the sticky thread regarding the correct grades to use etc. My query is: Is it ok to use modern multi grade oils with detergents / additives in them? I have heard that using these modern oils can actually do mor...
