Re: FSM Generator/Dynamo - Lucas Equivalent?
Thanks, Sandy. Checked it out, dead as the proverbial dodo. Replacement on its way from Anglo Agriparts. Spade terminals, but in the right place.

Re: FSM Generator/Dynamo - Lucas Equivalent?
Thanks, Sandy. Seems I mis-typed the year, which should have been 1961, not 1963, but I dare say your comments still apply. Cheers - Bob

FSM Generator/Dynamo - Lucas Equivalent?
Is a 1963 FSM (not NP) fitted with a Lucas generator and if so, is it a Type C40 or will a C40 do the job? Looks like the original on mine may need to be replaced and I'm a bit wary of some of the unbranded units offered as 'equivalents'.

Re: 3 Breather Pipes?
Thanks all for your helpful information. I will get photos and post them, together with the serial number, as soon as possible. The engine has the vacuum governor and these pipes are as they should be (I assume - they've not been touched and the engine runs fine). There seems to be agreement that th...

Re: 3 Breather Pipes?
d.u.w. Henk, but I think maybe I did not explain very well. The pipe stub on the rocker cover sticks up vertically on the top of the cover, approximately half way along, maybe 35mm tall. The pipe stub on the inlet manifold is the straight pipe that is in the centre of your first picture, again about...

3 Breather Pipes?
On my 1961 FSM, I have what looks like: 1 breather pipe stub on the rocker cover 1 breather pipe stub on the side of the main inlet to the air cleaner 1 breather pipe stub on the inlet manifold, facing the rocker cover. Currently, there is a length of rubber pipe connecting the manifold to the rocke...

Re: Tipping pipe
This pipe is also a useful 'accessory' for pumping oil from the back end, back into the gearbox where it belongs, if you've got the usual leaky internal seals. Just connect a length of hydraulic hose with an open end to the tipping pipe, drop the open end into the gearbox filler, haul up the lever a...

Re: Gearbox temperature
Using 90 grade oil in the gearbox could be contributing to the buildup of temp. Check the oil specs on this board and I think Fordson recommended the use of the same oil used in the engine. Maybe using the lighter oil will help.

Re: E1ADKN Petrol/TVO (Kero) Engine Kit
Thanks Wayne ... not an easy decision to reach in some ways, but I've already spent a fortune on the original restoration and the cost I'm facing now is just not manageable. I've had more than 10 years of fun with her, so I'm not complaining. Either someone else can bring her back to life or she'll ...

Re: E1ADKN Petrol/TVO (Kero) Engine Kit
Timing cover now removed and discovered teeth stripped from two of the gears. Just a step too far for the value of the tractor and my pocket. If you need bits for a 1952 E1ADKN (or a complete and restored tractor but in need of a heart transplant) - keep an eye on Ebay in a couple of weeks ... RIP K...

Re: E1ADKN Petrol/TVO (Kero) Engine Kit
Thanks, Emiel. I hope to have the pistons out next week and will be able to see if they can be re-used. Since I made the post, I have been able to locate some new (but oversize) replacements from a supplier, but the cost of these (including a need to machine out new liners so that they will fit) mak...

E1ADKN Petrol/TVO (Kero) Engine Kit
Please can anyone suggest where I might be able to get an overhaul kit for a 1952 E1ADKN? Pistons/liners/rings seem to be the challenge as other stuff is the same as diesel versions (I'm told). So a full kit or just the pistons etc., would do the trick. Any assistance/advice/supplier name would be m...

Re: petrol / kero
Hi Wayne Looks like we'll both be searching for a source of new pistons, liners and rings! - the internals of my engine aren't as bad as yours, but are worn enough to need replacing. If you find a supplier, I'd be grateful for some contact details and if I find one, I'll put the name etc on this Boa...

Well, she didn't sell, which must mean the big blue chugger master in the sky wants me to keep her. So who in the UK is good at doing engine rebuilds? I'm not going to risk doing it - I can probably take her apart and put her back together, but (a) unless something falls in half when I take i...

Re: 1952 E1ADKN on eBay
Usual reasons! - not enough time, not enough money and not enough knowledge about the inner workings of one of Fordson's finest! Better she goes to someone who can take proper care of her .... Keeping the Super Major though.

Re: Tractor World Show 2011
The petrol Dexta was won by someone from Ireland - that'll be a long drive home! Bit of a bugger if one of the Australian members had won it - that'd be an even longer drive. Not a bad prize, especially as it didn't involve buying a ticket - if you were a fully paid up Ford and Fordson Association m...

I'm going there on Sunday - would have preferred the Saturday because of the auction, but just can't do it. There's been some detail in Tractor & Machinery Magazine and Ford & Fordson Tractors. It's a great show and if you need to rest your legs, go to the Ford and Fordson Association (FFA) stand, w...

Hi Brian I tried to send a PM to you, but it's stuck in my Outbox - and I see there's another one there that I thought had gone out from ages ago. Any idea what the problem might be? Still need to contact you/Oscar regarding a bit of 'Board Business' - without wishing to involve the world. Perhaps y...

Re: Petrol Major governor not working
Hi Miles - I'm not sure that I'm going to be much help. Working backwards, I'm pretty sure it is nothing to do with the adjustable control rod - if it is not getting any inputs from the governor it won't move and if you can move it directly, it's not that that's seized. And unless you've done someth...

Re: Petrol Major governor not working
Hello Miles - I see you posted this some time ago and have had no responses. Did you solve the problem? If not, I'll try to help - I have a'52 Petrol/Kero E1A and I think the governor set up is the same. So you start the tractor, then move the control lever down ... and nothing happens? How long doe...
