Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
Thanks Brian, Your pictures confirmed what I had thought- That's the setting that I used at the first attempt today.... surely though the control valve when in position control shouldn't contact the valve body with the quadrant lever half way up the quadrant? Have I got the lift arms set correctly a...

Re: Rear Wings
My new wings came from Agriline- quality was good and generally pretty pleased with them, however I did have to slot the mounting bracket to allow them to sit in the correct place and line up with the footplates. Vertically they were fine.

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
1. Your life is out of adjustment possibly due to a worn Position Control Roller. Is that what has been wrong with my life all these years.  You never know what kind of wisdom will come from the FTP's. Maybe now I can straighten up and fly right. Glad I didn't waste any money o...

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
Thanks Brian, much appreciated. As you say, sounds like time for a bit of an overhaul. Ref the lift dropping, with a weight say 500kg on it and the PTO disengaged it will drop within about 15-20 seconds. You are right though, it does keep correcting itself when under load. I'll have another look at ...

Re: Super Major Resto
Here's a few more with it in it's current state.... I'm keeping it in a neighbours barn so it's getting a tad dusty but will soon sort that out. Been using it on my logsplitter and hasn't missed a beat yet... http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee473/andyraines/P1020006.jpg http://i1229.photobucket....

I didn't set myself a deadline to get it done by and there are still a few jobs to complete yet- don't think it will ever be "completely" finished. Are they...

Re: Ford 4000 Heavy Steering
Thanks for the replies guys. appreciated.
I have pretty much pinpointed the box as the problem, was just wondering what is in there to go wrong? I'm assuming collapsed or seized bearings and if so what is the availaibilty of parts to sort the probelm out?
Cheers

Re: Strange oil leak?
I am not quite sure, but one of the bolts for either the steering box or the fixture for the diesel tank is a ventilation bolt for the gear box. Unscrew the bolt and you will see it has a small hole Hi- Yes it's coming from the bolt that holds the bracket for the diesel tank. As you say this bolt d...

Strange oil leak?
Hi, been lurking on the forum a while now and picked up loads of good advice too so thanks! I've been busy restoring a 1961 super major and after re assembling the parts and giving it a couple of decent road runs it's sprung a leak from the gearbox i think. Basically there are 2 bolts that hold the ...
