Intending on getting stuck into this early in the New Year. Engine is seized solid from what I can see but will do some digging- it's the original non re...

Major/ Dexta hydraulics
Hello all- hopefully someone will be able to assist here! I've lifted the top cover on my 1975 4000 tractor and found a worn cam follower pin that is sending the linkage out of adjustment. (as previously diagnosed by Brian). I realise that this is in the wrong section but reading other posts it seem...

Re: Ford 4000 hydraulics
Evening all :D Ok so this has taken me the best part of 9 months to get around to lifting the top cover to see what is going on in there! It appear that the cam follower pin has worn pretty badly- see below. Should this have a small roller assembly like the super major set up- if so could somene giv...

Re: Temperature Sender
This might not solve your problem, but from "past experience" :eyes: with temperature guage sender units, I would suggest purchasing a genuine CNH/New Holland sender unit, part number C4AH10884A.See if that makes a difference  TSG. Is this because the genuine Ford sender is matced to the g...

Re: Temperature Sender
Hi Frank, Fingers crossed- I looked again at the oil this morning after the initial disappointment of the colour yesterday and it didn't actually seem that bad, and certainly hadn't got any worse overnight (?) So will fit the genuine sender unit, a replacement thermostat and voltage regulator and g...

Super major Hydraulic pressure
Hello all, Following resetting the lift etc earlier in the year, my '61 super has been pretty spot on over the last few months however recently i've noticed that it struggles to lift anything once the oil is hot (operating temp). Giving the engine plenty of revs just about gets things moving but the...

Temperature Sender
Hello all, Bit of advice if I may- temp guage wasn't reading on my 4000, so disconnected the wire and shorted it to earth and this sent it steadily into the red so diagnosed a faulty sender unit. I ordered one from Agriline but this climbed to the red with the water and engine only lukewarm after ru...

Re: Ford 4000 hydraulics
Ok, checked this morning but has the deluxe cab (!) with the fibreglass surround- didn't have time to remove so couldn't get the code. Did get a couple of others from the rear axle casting. I know the tractor is original so hopefully this will help date it? Anyway codes are: 14-3-75 C5NN 4024Y1 Does...

Re: Ford 4000 hydraulics
Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply and sorry for letting the thread go cold- time has got away from me a bit over the last few weeks. Yes, no problems ref the positons of the lever, it is in the correct place- good to double check though. Could you point out where I should be looking for these date code...

Ford 4000 hydraulics
Morning all :D As per title, having some issues with the hydraulics on my 1975 4000. Basically as per my super major, the lift is difficult to control in position function, it's either fully up or down. you can just about position the lift arms by feathering the quadrant lever but the lift creeps do...

Unload valve seal
Hello all,
Does anyone know where I can lay my hands on one of these? It's for a 1961 super major. Phoned my local CNH dealer (T H White Frome) who were unable to help and completely lost by the request.
Are they still made/ available?
Thanks
Andy

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
And just when you thought it was all going well.... Loaded the transport box up with logs at the weekend and set off home, hit a bump in the road and down came the lift arms sharpish :( Cover off and seems the centre section on the cross shaft has rotated (stripped splines?) meaning a new cross shaf...

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
Evening again, Cover adjusted and back on- it turned out to be 2 things mainly- one was that the turnbuckle didn't locate correctly in the control valve and the other was as Brian suggested a worn position control roller and more so the follower. With the worn position control roller and folower, a ...

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
Hi Pat, I would think you're right about the turnbuckle being adjusted too far- however as it's currently fitted this gives the correct dimensions. I'm fairly convinced that the turnbucle isn't seating properly in the control valve trumpet. Will check out later this morning- luckily I kept the old o...

Re: Super Major hydraulic Woes
Sorry Brian, just re read your post!
Your wiki entry has the dimension as 10mm from pump to valve for qualitrol?
For position control, yes, control valve plunger, 9/16 spanner to undo the lock nut then a short stubby screwdriver to make the adjustment?!
