Fordson Dexta Front loader and Cab

Hi, I am refurbishing my Dexta 1960 and want to put a front loader and a Cab on. Has anyone got either or both items or knows where I might get them?

Thanks Ben, sorry for the delay I've been on Holiday. I managed to sort it all out with a little thought. Thanks again.

Re: Combined Key and Light Switch

I am aware of that wiring diagram, I was looking for a wiring diagram that does not include the regulator box and has got an alternator not a dynamo, also with a negative earth.

Combined Key and Light Switch

I am about to wire a combined ignition and light switch on my 1960 Dexta. It has an alternator fitted and is negative earth. All the wiring diagrams show seperate switches with a dynamo and regulator box. I am also interesed in the wiring of the oil pressure light and the charging light. Any simple ...

Re: Charging Light

Everything is so simple I am beginning to suspect the alternator, it is well over 10 years old, how can I test it? Will the light not come on if the alternator is u/s?

Charging Light

I have just rewired my Dexta but I can't seem to get the charging light to come on. The oil pressure light is fine. It isn't a bulb issue I've swapped them over. I have an alternator fitted. It must be something simple but after a lot of hours looking and trying i am stuck. Any ideas?

Temperature Gauge

Hi all,

I am about to replace the temperature gauge on my Dexta. Can anyone tell me what "route" the cable takes from gauge to probe?

Re: Bracket

Just to put this one to bed. It is now clear that all the pickup hitches I have bought on E Bay advertised as Dexta are a mixture of different models. The actual hook and attached frame is wrong on them all. I don't think it matters with the hook but the attached frames on my bits are 3" to big so t...

Bracket

I am still struggling to get my Automatic Pickup Hitch on my Dexta to fit correctly. The hitch itsef is not vertical so does not fit to the plate correctly so any implement fitted is not secure. I think I need to change the anchor bracket as the one I have fitted does not look like the one in the sp...

Re: Wanted: Lift arms with the extra hole for hitch pick-up

Just to let you know that if you do get some arms from a 2000 then you will have to change the shaft as well as the key on the shaft is different from the Dexta. God knows why!!!!

Re: Automatic Pick-up hitch

This is the part that fits to the rear axle as you can see there are only 2 bolt holes whereas the dexta has 3 holes. The two hole don't line up on the Dexta. I believe that all the other parts, except for the lift arms, are interchangeable, though I may be wrong. I would have posted more pictures b...

Re: Automatic Pick-up hitch

hi Jerry,

This is an old post, I managed to get the Manifold I wanted, at the moment she is working fine, actually still in hibernation for the winter. I will take some pics of the hitch tomorrow.

Re: Automatic Pick-up hitch

Sorry for the delay, I'm pretty sure it won't fit a Major, perhaps someone will kow otherwise. If it is of any use let me know and I will post some pics.

Are we looking at a standard Dexta here, the radiator configuration viz filler pipe and brackets seem to be different from mine, my filler pipe seems lower and the bracket extentions to the cowel are missing. How does the nose cone fit, does it attach to the arms that are held by the two nuts? If yo...

You are not alone on this one Anthall, mine is exactly the same. I have located a small 'grub' screw on the underside that I thought might be holding it in but even after removing it it made no difference. Come on chaps, how does it come out?

Auxiliary Services

Hi again

Should there be a gasket on the auxiliary services cover? Does anyone know where I can buy one? Is the 'Gasket in a tube ' any good in this situation?

I have a slight leak on this cover which is annoying any help appreciated.

Fitting an Automatic Pick-up Hitch

To fit the hitch I have to remove the swinging drawbar. According to the drawing I have the drawbar is made up of : 1. Drawbar anchor bracket 2. Drawbar support bracket 3. Swinging drawbar 4. Drawbar support plate. My question is simple, what do I do with number 4? Do I remove it? At the moment I ha...
