Re: Voltage regulator fitting

Well.. I got the correct voltage regulator....complete with its rubbish 'bend the wire around a bullet' type connectors. After spending much of the day wrestling things inside the switch 'binacle' I got it all sorted. The horn switch and key switch connections are rubbish too with screws right on th...

Re: Voltage regulator fitting

I think the voltage regulator is the wrong one looking in the manual. That shows a screw terminal one.
The one I have is a Lucas unit having numbers: B90 Service unit LRC105 37290 9 80 F

Voltage regulator fitting

Hi All, I have a 1960 Dexta. When I got it it did not have a proofmeter / rev counter. I have now got one for it but it seems too long and would foul the connections on the voltage regulator. I have the type that is a bakelite housing with a clipped on lid and spade terminals. Any clues as to whethe...

where best to put some lights

Hi All, I have a 1960 dexta with a horndraulic loader and a heavy radiator protector around the front. It also has a roll-over hoop. We have a small house with no space at the moment so the dexta is not being used but when we move house to wales it will be used all the time including in the gloomy e...

Re: brake and clutch rods bent... but need to be??

Hi Tomlad and others, I have got the brake linkages sorted out fine. Those are now straight and back on, adjusted and fine. The clutch rod is still puzzling me. I have straightened it but to install it I would still need to bend it around the footplate boss on the gearbox casting, even with the foot...

Re: Rope Seal

I think I would be looking at maybe changing the clutch whilst in there. It would be a difficult job for me to do without decent workshop facilities so I would want to sort out everything in there at the same time.
Watch out for the possibly asbestos clutch dust.

Re: Top link, bonnet prop, hydraulic fitting questions

I made a bonnet prop from a little bit of tin, it works perfectly  I have made a new bonnet prop that is 4.5" longer than the short one I had. That works fine as a prop but whatever clip should hold it inside the bonnet has long since fallen off. I was hoping someone could take a picture of w...

Re: New Dexta owner.

Congratulations on your new tractor. Good to hear that it is mechanically sound. I had to chuckle when I saw the picture as mine has the same sag where the hood (bonnet) meets the grille housing. Someone bumped into something with the front end on mine. I've driven many tractors over the yea...

Top link, bonnet prop, hydraulic fitting questions

Hi All, I got hold of a smaller top link today that actually fits in the top link clevis. The previous one had an end too big and would hit the back of the clevis before you could get the pin through. I am wondering if it is short enough. With both ends wound in it measures about 21 inches between c...

Wanted: The 'pin' for the pto lever 1960 dexta

I am trying to find another one of the little pins that goes through the pto lever and attaches it to the small shaft that goes into the gearbox.

The threaded part on mine is sheared off.

Re: Bleading Horndraulic Loader Rams

I figured it out today. I took the old rams off and took one of them to bits. The old ones have a small (maybe 1/8 BSP) plug in the side of the big aluminium screw cap for bleeding the rams. The newer ones don't have that which is a bit of a bummer but I shall just lay them on their side and fill th...

Bleading Horndraulic Loader Rams

I have just got a much better pair of rams for my Horndraulic loader. They are single acting with the pipe connection welded on about half way up the ram body. Do they self bleed? or do they need connecting up and opening and closing a few times with them on their side with the inlet pointing up? Ed...

Re: Damn weather..... Note - fit a tub on the exhaust.

I did concider a drop or two of water getting in there.... but about a mug full came out of the sump and a good cylinder full out of the exhaust.
Amazing how much rain must have blown against the pipe.

It needs its own shed.... which is in the pipeline... but just not at the moment. :?

Damn weather..... Note - fit a tub on the exhaust.

I have just (well all afternoon) been out to put a throttle linkage clip on my Fordson Dexta. I pulled out the exhaust to be able to remove the bonnet. Then I noticed the orangy mess down in the exhaust manifold. Peering down it I found it full of water..... bo**^%ks..... It does have a little flapp...

Wanted: Ransomes TS1013 two furrow plough

I am looking for a TS1013 two furrow plough. I don't want to have to transport it a million miles so could pick one up from either around Peterborough area or Cardigan (West Wales) sort of area.

Which one? Super dexta or standard? I have a standard dexta which has had an engine change to a later super dexta engine and they fitted a super dexta bulkhead between the engine and battery area. The super dexta one is a little short bulkhead with a longer prop and a standard dexta has a higher bul...

Re: Dexta 'Newbie' here... and a few questions

Hi All,

I drained the 'double cream' out of the gearbox today....

Image

There were no horrid bits of grit or nasties just emulsified oil.

I need to build the tractor a small shed to keep it dry and keep the water off of it.

Re: oil in exhaust

Common problem on all diesel engines that are not in hard work. I was always taught that a diesel had to be run under full load or switched off. Not always practical but a good guide. This time of the year was always the worst for this problem as most tractors are on light work like hoeing and gras...

Mine did not work because of bad wiring and the switch. I tested mine across a battery. It smoked a lot, glowed red, caught light and then continued to glow an orange / red hot. When I got my dexta a few months ago it was a pig to start. It was turning over slowly due to bad battery leads. The inlet manifold heater did not work due to wiring and switch issues. Now that I have solved these it now starts much better but the squirter nozzle does not squirt well so is my next j...
