Hello Johnny, just for your info we've just registered our 1960 Power major. I dealt with a wonderfully efficient lady called Grace Popplewell at the Ferguson club, and all I had to do was send her by registered post the following. 1. Passport 2. A recent utility bill with my name on 3. One photogra...

EXOTIC EUROPEAN MAJOR
My friend photographed this rather unusual looking major whilst on holiday in Menorca last week. Can anyone shed any light on it, as apart from the unusual looking filter type pod mounted on the front bonnet, it also has an unusual side emblem. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/4977157681_6b5172a0...

Just to update this post, have now cracked the problem. It turned out to be the selector fork being slightly bent from having been previously forced when it was wrongly fitted on first assembly. Having applied heat, we were able to straighten it and it engages / disengages perfectly. Just in time fo...

Ford 5000 porous block
Does anyone know what the so called porous block problems are about on the 5000, as I've heard of one locally for sale with this problem. Does it mean a new block, or is the problem repairable, as I would be looking to restore her to show condition.
Any info would be appreciated !!
Thanks, Neil

POWER MAJOR PTO LEVER PROBLEMS
Just wonderring whether anyone has ever had problems following re-assembly of the PTO lever assembly. Before we stripped this unit apart, the lever was quite slick in engaging / disengaging. However, having re-assembled it, it is extremely difficult to engage. Someone in the workshop suggested it ma...

Will try to get some pics linked in asap. I'm sure its a power major though, as the engine number is 1546450 which relates to a power major MKIII march 1960, and the casting codes on the rear gearbox, and top cover read B26D which i think is Feb 1960. I think the Power Major was made up until Oct 19...

Major Pulley Wheel
Just finished restoring a 1960 power major to as new condition, but was a bit puzzled as to what to do with the outside of the pulley wheel. Looking at some resto pics they are painted blue, but should they not be bare metal ?. I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows these things.
