New Performance Super Major 5000 (US) paint color

Hello All My understanding is that all FMD, PMD, SMDs imported into the US were all painted the same blue as UK tractors and had orange wheels. The New Performance Super Major which is also labeled as Ford 5000 (but not the 1965 Ford 5000) was painted a slightly different shade of blue with beige sh...

Hello Jack I have a couple of FSM backhoe/loaders and the original instructions from Ford on how to apply the subframe kit to the Major. The 713/723 backhoe mounts to a subframe kit that the loader attaches to. It takes the place of the standard channels that connect the clutch housing to the front ...

Nothing in my loader literature suggests a belly pan as an option. In a stock condition, it would not be a suitable support for a belly pan because it only has one bolt on each side. It is meant to stabalize the side to side movement of the sub-frame, and to cradle the engine by supporting the oil p...

It is the brace on the sub-frame that is attached to a Major when installing a loader or loader/backhoe. It goes between the side rails under the oil pan. The subframe can be dealer installed to the agricultural or industrial models.

I have a November, 1960 Super Major with a Ford 712/723 loader/hoe and it has the identical power steering unit. Also has three point lift without lower arms. The entire frame kit to mount a Ford loader/backhoe on a Major was available as a package and could be applied to any existing ag tractor. Th...

Hello craigy236 I still get some parts from the local CNH dealer. Also, search the web for retail outlets for Sparex and BareCo. You are better off when you find a retailer who knows the Majors; they are out there. NAPA has filters. I have obtained many used parts from ebay- fenders to injection pum...

Super Major lower O-ring groove

Hello All Upon inspecting the block on the SuperMajor I am rebuilding, I discovered that one of the lower liner o-ring grooves was chipped the last time the cylinder liners were out. The chip is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch long on the bottom side of the groove. The machinist said it would most likely leak...

Henk- Thanks for your comments. Old 20 does not ship to the US so I am still trying to locate a proper replacement. At least it sounds like there should be a couple of different vendors. The single Sparex unit I did receive had been sitting on a dealers shelf for a while and I have not been able to ...

Replacement front spindle differences with photos

Hello All I have been investigating the new replacement front axle spindles available for Majors. I know of several after-market sources- but their catalogs show different dimensions. I ordered a Sparex (S.65750) and a Barco (B556). The Sparex is listed as having a vertical height of 190mm (7.5 inch...

Brian and BarryM Thanks for your replies. I have compared five front axle spindles from my Majors and Super Major and they all have the same number cast into them and the bearing does not fit any of them- casting part number E27N3107D (or 3108D). My parts manual says the spindle part number is E1ADK...

Front axle thrust bearing photos

Hello All I removed another spindle and found an original Ford bearing installed as seen in the photo. The word "top" is clearly visible on the sheet metal retaining cover of the bearing. It is also a ball bearing with a number FB111 rather than a roller bearing as in the replacements. That solves t...
