Thanks sandy for your time , my shaft has a nut on half shaft ,i removed the inner seal to replace and have found a nicK on the edge of housing most likely this has been replaced before and someone has used a chisel or something , it is about a1/8th deep and i think the oil from inner seal housing m...

hi, is there any way of telling which seal ie, , inner or outer is leaking . one on my dexta has started leaking . i have replaced the inner awhile back which is the easy one of the two, but now i am not sure this is leaking or the outer one is causing the oil to leak. i dont have the tools to do ou...

thanks for the quick replyes never have been able to get the hang of photo thing but oil/bath /filter came from agri line no fill marks[ aftermarket ] works good enough, can be seen on their site,have always just put some oil into each part but never knew what is correct , thanks for clearing it up ...

oil bath filter

hi all ihave been doing a service on dexta an am about to
put oil in to filter, when filling should the oil be put into the middle
chamber with the holes in it or just around the out side of the middle of the chamber.
or both places
iknow it sounds silly but it doesnt take much to confuse me :)

it seems that one side of back wheel studs on deata have been changed
to m/f some time in its distance past other side is 5/8 when i do seals ill have to
get the other side side sorted.

would anyone know what is correct size of back wheel studs on dexta
are they 9/16 or 5/8 there seem to be some mix up when trying to get correct studs and nuts :?:

i have one rigged up a reservoir type system on my s/dexta what i did find is it burned out the thermostat after a couple of uses mybe i was holding the heater button in to long or not long enough either way there is no way of telling when to let go of heater button and after using for a short while...

I done the same thing and the same panic set in ,don't move a thing , get that thin magnet and slip it down in around the cam shaft , that's where I was lucky and found mine it hadn't rolled down the oil holes before you start hunting with magnet bung up the holes of oil ways I think there are two, ...

just thought i would share this to help with tappet setting just seen it in tractor mag, for anyone who has set tappets it is very fiddley , well if you take a peice of flat and mark and cut in line with the cam followers 1/2 inch opening this will lock the followers and make it easyer to adjust tap...

right tried a couple of the above posts but could not get any of them to work , tried to get a little piece of wood in but this prove more than a match for my fingers , and diddnt want to get a bit of wood lost inside pump so after a bit of thought i think i remember someone i think it was brian say...

i dont know if the ptfe tape will hold oil , it will do for a while
might be better to use some type of sealant for oil , ptfe is really for water plumbers stuff
and air lines ect :)

if i cant get an adaptor as a last resort iwill have do do something like this
i have nothing to loose with the shaft in the pump rounded jb weld sounds like good stuff ,
i had been thinking of
of chemical metal, iget some and see how it works out ,

if you can get hold of a plumbers wrench or a basin spanner for tighting
taps on a wash hand basin , it will take the nut off, easy enough
or something similar :)

Thanks mikesdexta for reply ,yep this is what is happening , had her rebuilt about 10 years ago no bother only when useing backhoe clears up after a bit of work question i would like to know is does happen to all back hoe users or is it just the dexta does this happen to the modern backhoe tractors ...
