nearly solved
I might have solved it; I swapped the hydraulic arms over and this gave me another 40 millimetres in height. I'll find out tomorrow after work.. I might be trying to do the wrong thing though, in raising the slasher/topper slightly off the ground.. It just seemed that when I dragged it today it dug ...

skid slasher
Thanks Steve
I'm happy with the cutting height, it's just that the slasher appears to dig in occasionally.
I might try putting it on low blocks and seeing if I can wind the arms up - I don't know that they will go that high though.

my new tractor
Thanks for the replies
I'll post a photo of the linkage after I give the tractor a pressure clean (once it stops raining!).
This is a great site and it makes me feel like I bought the right old tractor!
Cheers, Jim

My first Tractor..
Hello all First time poster, and tractor owner! I've just picked up what I think is a 1954 New Major Mark I? The plate near the battery says 1280851. The engine block says A29V but the front axle is stamped with 28A4, and E27N 3010B - attached with a bolt that is not the correct size. It leaks oil, ...
