Thanks for the info Sandy. Seems a peculiar 'design feature' but good to know it is meant to be like that! I have an old starter handle that I can use to turn the crank a touch if it refuses to mesh.

Re: Dexta starter issues
Hi All. I have a starter problem that does not seem have been covered on the forum before. When I press the starter lever down, sometimes, not always there is resistance whicj I presume is being caused by the starter pinion not being able to engage with the flywheel. If you lean on the lever ususall...

Re: Oil warning light wiring
Thanks to Eddie, Tom and Gerry for futher advice on this. I sorted it this afternoon. I got the sensor out with an adjustable spanner and hammer and then realised that the light was still earthing through the dash plate! I have now insulated that with a bit more tape and the jobs a goodun. The senso...

Re: Oil warning light wiring
Thanks for various thoughts on this. I never really got to the bottom of this 'original' light bit as I just can't see how one wire out the back and the body of the bulb holder to earth can work? I used the suggestion of soldering another wire to the bulb holder body and insulating it from teh earth...

Re: Oil warning light wiring
Thanks for the advice. I thought about the solder to light body solution but then you have to insulate the body from the dash plate? I just thought there must be a simpler solution! I think I'll ask Agriline as they do sell them as 'original'.

Re: Oil warning light wiring
That's what I thought but agriline sell them as parts for Dextas with one wire so I presume there must be some way to do it?

Oil warning light wiring
First post for me on this forum. Excellent information - I wish I had read more before I recently acquired a 1964 Super Dexta. Not very good condition (cracked block) and some mods e.g. alternator but I intend to gradually sort a few things out so thought I'd start with an easy bit and fit an oil li...
