Originally I would say it was an Enamal. Laquer was reserved for higher end automobiles, and there is too much hand rubbing involved to be pratical for a piece of farm machinery. Forget about getting the original stuff with lead and oil as it is no longer made. Modern paint is acrylic based, weather...

Hello Glenn! My own '57 Major was built as a backhoe/loader so it came Yellow (underneath is blue and orange) but my local New Holland dealer said he can get the original Empire Blue although he doesn't stock it. I hope this helps.

Really an excellent job -
I assume the main colour is "Empire Blue" ?
How did you decide on the shade of orange to be used - do you perhaps have a colour code for the paint ?
