Just got back from Meddo. Met Brian, Ann, Emiel, Henk and Pascal there. Frans was on his way over but sadly I missed him. The weather was so-so, though it started to clear up by the time I left. The show was huge, as always, and it was a pleasure to be there, also as always. I forgot my camera so no...

I received a very nice email from J. Mellema, who sent me this spec sheet:

Dexta oil specs.

The document is not directly from Ford, but refers to Dagenham. There's also some other info about the Dexta on it.

We also had trams and tram ways but also "trolley buses" which ran on normal roads, in the cities like Norwich, with electric motors, and picked up their power from overhead wires. Those are still in operation in Arnhem! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_RhlU3ikYzjg/RzBboa12EmI/AAAAAAAAAnU/_jyaY6sTOpY/s400...

Nice!! Tramlines like that were all over Holland up until the '50s, at which time most went out of service and were broken up. Some survived as museum lines, such as the Hoorn-Medemblik line or the Goes-Borssele line. Indeed, in Emiel's region there were tramlines and railway lines galore, the last ...

Site updated with Ford County sales brochures

Chaps,

It's been way too long since the last site update, so on this rainy Sunday afternoon I uploaded several Ford County sales brochures that long-time member Pascal Kolk sent in recently. You can find them in the Fordson Manuals page.

Thanks very much, Pascal!

All,

I changed the subject line of this topic. Certain words attract a certain kind of attention which may lead to the exact sort of thing that we are trying to avoid.

Re: Possible 7/7 Government involvement?

Since this is the miscellaneous topics forum let's go off the rails slightly and talk about politics. Ian, I'd say this topic is a bit more off the rails that just "slightly" 8) . For obvious reasons it might be a touchy subject, but by itself that's not a reason to disallow a topic such as this on...

I wear them all the time as well and am very fond of them. Mine are like the ones in the picture that Emiel posted, with rubber soles. They're not really slippery but as Brian said, they do collect snow underneath. For long walks, or when I have to go through snow or on unpaved ground, I wear this: ...

Brian's post is valuable (and a good read too, as usual). I'd like to comment on his observations regarding gov't funded research. All research is funded, and obviously that implies the risk of research with a preconceived agenda. Personally, I doubt that gov't funded research is better or worse tha...

Folks, A plea for caution. The problem is that science and politics get mixed up. There will be people on one side who will swear that human behaviour is causing a significant climate change and that we're all done for. There will be people on the other side who will swear that it's all nonsense and...

I've heard the older people here in my part of the US say just that, "have you got your legs under you yet?" Well I've only got about one under me as of yet, but I'm working toward full recovery. Sounds like you're at least 50% there, Mark. Glass seems to be half full, not half empty :D . Hang in t...

I'm curious as to why you were singing in English. I never even consciously thought about that. In pop and rock music, English is the way to go. There are bands that sing in Dutch, but they're not known outside of Holland (basically a pinprick on the map). I have been criticized by many Dutchmen wh...

Oscar, your guitar playing is spectacular for a 14 year old boy. I'm impressed again! At age 14 I had just begun playing guitar! No, those recordings are 14 years old now, some of the kids who played on it were around that age as well, but I was 25 or something. I was teaching at that school, the o...

I switched to Dutch because the discussion got rather specific and I haven't got a clue what the proper English terms are for certain Märklin-specific tidbits. It just made it a bit easier. In the past, Jos used to translate little bits into French when someone from France came on the forum whose En...
