Re: New Member / Buying advice

Working on these machines is remarkably easy for a person with some mechanical know how and curiosity! Buy a workshop manual, some axle stands and a good jack or two and buy or borrow a set of imperial tools. All parts are easy to buy from a variety of companies including Ford/New Holland. The origi...

Re: Fertiliser time!

This is really early Autumn, we've had a couple of light ground frosts but June it will get cold. Leaves have just turned on the grape vines in the background which means we'll be pruning shortly. Normally expect some rain in March but the weather patterns kept up warm westerlies until now. We will ...

Re: Flail mower on Super Dexta

Re lubrication, flail mowers I have used require oil for the gearbox - there is usually a filler plug on top of the gearbox and an oil level check plug on the side - you remove the check plug and if oil seeps out it is full enough. Use gear grade oil. Sometimes it is necessary to remove a safety cov...

Re: will a PARMITER POST KNOCKER work on a dexta

I guess you are plugged into the auxiliary services feed, the auxiliary service control is pulled out to allow flow, you are likely to be using the 'qualitrol' position on the selector lever. I don't know how much oil your post driver rams suck up but the oil will come from the tractor reservoir whi...

Re: will a PARMITER POST KNOCKER work on a dexta

Is it PTO/cable driven or oil/ram driven - if the latter, do you have enough oil in your reservoir?

Re: parts needed for axles seal replacement ?

Do you know if it has the press-on bearing retainers or the nut type? Either way you will need some access to tools - either a shop press and a gas torch or a large adjustable wrench.

Re: first lot of problems with the Dexta

Open the tap on the block as well and flush it out with a running hose, refill with some decent coolant once you have the cooling issue sorted.
Don't think of these things as "problems," they are just a classic tractor getting to know you!
Whereabouts in the big red are you?

Re: New here, Mick from Oztralia, need info on Dexta

I would initially be checking that the lift arms raise to full height, steering does not have too much play, tyres are OK, oil leaks limited to a few drips at most, if it has a double clutch it works for PTO and gears, and yes as above it starts without the dreaded Engine Start!

Re: Loader ram seals - source of and how to ?

If you can get the old ones out most ag machinery suppliers can measure them and provide a replacement. You may have to make or borrow a tool to unscrew the ram caps, a large pipe wrench may be enough but has a tendancy to scar the metal/paint.

Hi Andy - just harking back a bit, the throttle cable is usually inside a plastic sleeve - that would stop it wearing against the fuel line.

Kind regards

Anyone drinking Nz marlborough Sauvignon Blanc?

Here are a couple of pics of machinery we are using - the FNH with obvious pedigree but the Pellenc harvester will have to make do with the distant cousin Perkins engine link.
