Well, I got bored and called up the local CNH dealer and had him measure the springs they had and they were 5mm longer than the super major springs, so I'll answer my own question with a "no"... I then called another firm(he who runs it is something of an "oracle") and he's fixing me up with the spr...

Well, I've updated a little in the wiki :)
It's obvious that I need more parts... like the return springs in the brake actuators, and they seem hard to come by in sweden :/ any ideas anyone?

Re: Agriline Tachometer

The Fordson Major Diesel (approx 1958) did not have a tacho ? Regards Tjibbe One could be fitted to it, there's a bracket and a tachometer on agriline's homepage, check in front of the injection pump if you have a small angular drive unit sticking up from the flat surface just behind the timing cov...

That one looks very fine :) Do you have a picture of your 3pt lift linkage? I have the E27N on mine since the super major one I had was wrecked... I wouldn't mind having the newer one that can be bought at OIE, but I lack the cash for it so I guess the E27N will stay, it's in pretty much mint condit...

High vacuum will suck the diaphragm towards the front, just as pulling the stop will push the rod towards the front, thus giving less fuel... High vacuum occurs when the throttle plate is closed... Is your throttle plate firmly pressed into the shaft or can it "wobble" a bit? Mine was worn(pictures ...

Springs for the super major brake actuators

Does the Ford 4000 brake actuator springs work on the super major brake actuators?

The clutch pedal spring was attached to a small bracket that was welded to the underside of the foot rest, this is for a super major tho so I can't really guarantee it to be the same on your power major...

Ok, then I suppose that if I want mine to have exceptional brakes that don't stick I'll just have to come up with something of my own... That might take a while tho ;) I was playing yesterday evening(or night?) with the thought of making a set of hydraulically operated actuators instead of the curre...

If I'm not mistaken, the ferrules in the ends are only soldered on, so heat them with a blowtorch to undo them, clean them off and then get some soft copper tube, make your measurements, bend it where it should and re-solder the ferrules with the nuts in place... probably cheaper than buying a new p...

While delving on the matter, how do I get the diff lock actuating rod out so I can replace the seal on it? I was told that I could simply pull the right brake shaft straight out, loosen the nut(after taking note about how far in it was screwed) and pull the rod out. I tried doing just that on the tr...

Nah, my brake setup is wrecked at the moment, my right brake had become a "wet" brake, nothing was stuck there tho and it didn't brake, the left one was an extremely "dry" and reddish brake where most things except the actuator had seized up... I've ordered a set of new brake linings, picked up a pa...

Brakes: For the fun of it

The brake actuators on my super major has, from what I remember now, three springs that pull it back inwards from the expanded state while what I can see from agriline's pictures the Ford 4000 variety has four springs... And this will lead to one of my usual questions; Could the Ford 4000 actuators ...

I have had good luck so far with the one on my Power Major, which did come from Agriline. But then again, it only has less than 50 hours on it. The Power Major Tach turns opposite of the Super. My needle rests to the left when the tractor is off. The Supers rest to the right. If this is for your Su...

Does anyone here have any experiences with one of those? I am specifically wondering about the clockwise one for power and super major? Sorry for hijacking your thread henk, but I have a question that has to do with lining up the pump, I have the other kind of drive coupling on my pump, the simms one with a rubber star inside and since I exchanged pumps this one seems to "wobble" a little bit, why is it doing that? I also had the pu...

Tried to adjust the idling by the screw on the back, but nothing happens. Loosen up the small pipe a bit and the rpm went up. That's strange as here in Sweden there are equal size pipes on all FMD's that I've seen(56-57) and my SMD has different sizes just like two other SMD's that reside not very far from where I live...? How come?

Foxen, I've tried tuning that screw with no effect. My though is that the vacuum must be in balance when idling and with different sizes the balance will be different. I will try loosen up the connection from te small pipe to the pump and see what happens when I give a bit of false air. The small p...

The pipes are in order(they changed them to be different sizes sometime but I don't remember when, probably because someone fitted them the wrong way when they were the same size) Have you tried to turn the big screw in the vacuum governor housing? The one that's facing frontwards? That one is for c...
