Re: Major 4 WD
@ Pat You are right, I think I got my present :buddies: Today I tried to identify my new toys: The Super Major ( with the french cab) should be a Juli 1961model, with corretc casting codes on all major parts. The engine has the numer S 455421, should be a replacement as far as I am informed. When I...

Re: Went to a auction
The thing is, I wanted to see the pictures, but, I'm getting quite sick now, if I'm honest
But the good thing, is, that the fordson didn't run out, even if the whole tractor is upside down!!!

Re: One Lunger in a band
Lovely work!!!  I may look and sound quite weird than an ordinary band, but when you look at it, it does work great!! The tractor in the video is a 1950s Landini l35. A 35 hp hot-bulb, made in Italy. It looks lovely, especially, I think, when compared to its german (or australian) co...

It looks lovely, especially, I think, when compared to its german (or australian) counterparts, the lanz d8506 and the aus. k.l. bulldog. I am trying to think how their porformance would look like wh...

How far did "Walter"pull the sled? Well, I didn't know much about tractor pulling except from what I have learned from the internet, but we did pull something using our ford 5000 lately, and it was a massive mango stump that despite the fact that we have already dug the most of it, it still cost us ...

So we fixed a bunch of piddly things on Grandpas Major (now referred to as Walter), and took him to Symco this summer as well, Marc pulled him in the 6,000 lb pure stock class and placed about in the middle of the pack, we can see we need to change a few things, including the head gasket. The Embar...

Re: family history
Well, my grandfather was a ford man as well. I could still remember that he told me that back in 1973 (I believe this might be the time because he bought his ford in 1973) he had money enough for a larger Fiat tractor but he chose a small Ford 4000 to work with, and it stayed with him ever since. No...

Ah, finally after a long long period of inactivity because of the school projects, I could finally get around to replying on a post. Brian is right about making the tractor lighter. Wheel weights helps you pull a disc harrow more efficiently yes, but once your drive wheels starts to dig, it will jus...

SO LOOK OUT FE35's and TE20's..........Next road run im coming to get ya!!!!!!! I really like that statement!! Everyone here would really like to to see something like that, isn't it? especially when the road run has to take a steep hill climb route then there's the time to outrun those rather nast...

Re: And then there were two... My new Super Major
As for the Super Major's seat, do not worry . The two Fordson Super major here in our area has the same seat as that one. Good thing that you managed to get a set of rear tyres. Tractor tyres were quite expensive, here in the Philippines the price of a set of rear tyres would make a farmer think and...

Now, with that exhaust pipe, the six cylinder turbocharged engine could be known and recognized by anyone even if it's miles away! Are you going to use it at the ploughing day? Because I think there would be a problem if you will be using the Super 6 as well, and that is, finding a larger plough for...

Its been a very good weekend, a piece of my grandparents is now part of my herd. My Dads youngest brother Harold, has had Grandpas Major for many years and used it for plowing snow, cutting wood, a forklift, grading,....about anything he needed done. He recently picked up a nice Ford 4X4 with a loa...

Re: Power Major plow day "touch-up"
The 5000 is a SUPER good tractor, and so dependable :D . My dad bought ours new in 1974 and has never had a major mechanical problem, only ever been apart once to replace the clutch that I know of. Round the farm here the 5000 is the go to tractor, its not to big or small for most jobs. I think the...

Hi Matt It looks to good to paint from what I can see :) . an original nice tractor like this should be left alone in my opinion to  . Some guys actually prefer to see them in working clothes now at shows, It's something different to rows of shiny over polished trailer queens :eyes: :run: . M...

Oh, I've just worked out another downside. The tricycle front was easier to get bogged down the mud and was a lot harder to pull out of in case it was bogged down. And because of the clearance of the front wheels to the "tombstone" the front wheels were most likely to get jammed in case you're drivi...

I also think it was a telephone pole but I ruled it out at first because cannot see any cables on it. So at first I think it might be a "converted" underslung exhaust, bent upright and extended at that place near where the air cleaner should be. But now I worked out how come the lights were mounted ...

We did a bunch of work to the Power Major again this weekend. I finally made a good tie rod from two off an old Gleaner combine, as the ball joints were to small I had to make some tapered bushings as well. we also got all the radiator hoses installed, a fan, V belt, and got some antifreeze in it. ...

Thanks for the comments BearCreek and AdrianNP. I'm trying to get this one of the first majors and one of the last (my NP Super) in my shed side by side. Almost there. http://i1036.photobucket.com/albums/a444/52Fordson/fordsonploughing_zps3a9017fc.jpg This is the full pic of the tractor when 'new'....
