4610 injector pump timing

Well after 18 months of sitting in the field, my 4610 is back together and running. The pump timing was set at 0 and it started up on a tow within 10ft as sweet as a nut. However, the idle speed was far too low - almost stalling so a quick adjustment of the linkage cured that and everything seems fi...

Re: 4610 engine rebuild snag

Thanks Brian,

I'm not sure how good the original is but I'm sure I can repair what there is somehow.
This tractor has been fighting me all the way through this rebuild and it doesn't look like it is giving up the fight yet.

Re: 4610 engine rebuild snag

I don't actually know the reason for the gasket being there. It seems to sit over the rear crank seal but causes the centre of the plate to push out and run on the flywheel. The original gasket seems much thinner but then it has been compressed for 27 years. There are no bolts through the gasket it ...

Re: 4610 engine rebuild snag

The Plate will only go one way and the Gasket just sits between the plate and the block

4610 engine rebuild snag

I am putting my 4610 engine back in this weekend after a full rebuild but hit a problem. The metal plate behind the flywheel originally was fitted with a cork gasket around the crank. I have refitted this but when the flywheel is fitted it rubs the plate as it is pushed out by the gasket. Has anyone...

Super dexta sump wanted

Due to a rather untrustworthy "friend" I am now looking for a replacement sump for my super dexta. My original was waiting to be cleaned and repainted prior to refitting the engine but has gone missing (along with a front weight frame from my 4610 :( ) Either these 2 items have eloped to start a new...

Re: knob/lever ID

As a rule of thumb level plugs have square heads whereas bolts holding something inside will have hexagonal heads. The filler plugs are easily identifiable as you have shown in your picture.

The oil level should be checked with all external rams fully extended and hydraulics raised.

Re: Transmission noise in 4th and 6th gear

Personally I can't see that the PTO shaft damage would be the culprit - it only transmits drive to the PTO and would be running at engine speed continually (unless the clutch is depressed) and any noise produced would show permanently even if the transmission was in neutral. I suspect that the fault...

Re: 4000 questions - hydraulics and tacho

Is the $F1*5 a similar setup to the T*2! (censored for profanity!) where the valve in the pump has to be removed through the side cover before lifting the top off. I had one of those menaces that I was always taking the top cover off for one problem or another. Those were the days :)

Re: When would these parts be used?

Yes the adjustable stay fits between the axle bracket and the lug in your 2nd photo which replaces the bolt halfway along the lower lift arm where it attaches to the drop arm

Re: When would these parts be used?

I think the point is that a dexta doesn't use the pin in photo 2 and the long bar goes between the axle bracket and the implement lower link pin. Personally I prefer the adjustable short stabiliser but that is from a practical point of view not a authentic viewpoint.

Re: Petit Trailer

Thanks,
My initial reaction is that these are not Petit but can't be 100% sure as they may have had different designs anyway. Will try and get some pictures of the trailer and the fixings when I go down the fields next as the trailer is not at home at the moment.

Re: Have it put the battery in the wrong way?

Have you changed the battery leads or terminals?
As the terminals are different sizes, if you haven't changed them the battery must be the right way (or at least the way it has been for a long time)

Re: Super Dexta Aux hydraulics

Sounds like a good system. Many years ago on a TE20 I blocked off the oil way to the 3 pt linkage and diverted it through a spool block to give precise height control of the lift arms and also a separate auxillary supply for the trailer and loader when fitted. I know it defeated the draft control bu...

Re: Petit Trailer

Fab. No rush I think yesterdays events with my mower have pushed the trailer down the list again. The mower decided yesterday that it didn't like having a flat bed and that a curved one would give a more unique finish. Basically rust has weakened the bed causing it to bend and take the tension off t...

Re: Petit Trailer

That would be great if you can. I want to try and keep the trailer as original as possible yet also keep it useable for today's requirements such as round bales. This may mean making 2 sets of hay racks - one original spec and one for round bales.

Re: Vicon Acrobat

I can't even begin to imagine how many of them were sold in the UK and it is incredible how many are still lying around in the undergrowth not being used as it seems that people love or hate them. I know a few farmers who criticise them but have one tucked away only to see the light of day when a mo...

Re: Petit Trailer

That is good news for me. I have seen them painted blue with white wheels obviously to match a ford tractor and I did wonder if they were branded to suit various tractors. I had decided that bright red with white wheels would look good so that is probably the way it will go. I haven't used it for ab...

Re: Vicon Acrobat

I am glad that at last someone has answered this for me too. I purchased an acrobat last year to tidy up some land that had a lot of dead grass and the chain harrows were not clearing it and ever since I have been wondering how it is used for turning hay as next year we are hoping to bale a few acre...

Petit Trailer

I'm looking for some information regarding my Petit 3 ton trailer. Re: 12V Conversion

Barry, I seem to recall that the 12 volt starter for these tractors is larger than the 6 volt and that the aperture in the back plate is too small for the 12 volt starter. Gerald There is a difference in the starters and also the gearbox casting for the different starters. I forget the reasons and ...

Oil pump failure

Well this weekend I finally managed to get some time to spend on my 4610 engine problem. My original engine was taken out of the tractor a few years ago while a temporary replacement was fitted but as to be expected nothing happened with it until the replacement failed. A few weeks ago I took the or...
