Hi Mervyn, that's what I would do if it was mine. I had the other side of my trumpet off and renewed the gasket with no problems. It's a heavy bugger so gets some help.

Hi Ben, she looks stunning, even without her bonnet. I like the roll over protection and would love to see some pics of how you made it. I've been thinking about making one for mine. Beautiful landscape and sheep, now all you need is a good sheep dog to go with all that. Wow, I wonder how long it to...

Do they really still make a Falcon? They haven't made any of those over here in the states for years. I liked the ones in the 60's the best.
Sorry to hear about the closure and all those people losing there jobs, that sucks!

Hi Brian, I was beginning to think you had left the building like Elvis. I haven't seen you post in a while. I suppose you're getting over from all your gallivanting across the globe and such. Wish I could help you with a fly wheel, I haven't yet had the good fortune to even see a petrol ...

I like looking at old tools and finding out what they were used for. Sounds like you have a sweet deal with your farmer friend. Nice to have such a good neighbor!

Interesting old tools you have lying about. What are they used for, can't see them all that good to tell what they were made for. Nice welder you got there to Andy.

Re: Should dynamo get hot when running? and oil leak pic
When I overhauled my engine some years ago, I left out a bolt in the back between the injector pump and the block. It's hard to see, but you can feel with your hand to see if you got them all back in. It sounds like your gasket may be bad from what you say about having it out recently. I thought I'd...

Re: Doris NP Super Dexta rebuild
Nice thread on the rebuild of another old Dexta girl (Doris). You might try the caustic soda on your head. I had mine cleaned with this at the local Machine shop, block to. It did wonders for all the gunk inside the little holes and hard to get to areas. Keep up the good work, will be keeping and ey...

I added a shut off valve to mine. As for the injector pump you would be money ahead if you took it to a specialist, not just anybody can work on those.

Nail driver, can you post a picture of your homemade fan shroud? I made me one to about 10 years ago, it looks nothing like the original, but it serves it's purpose by keeping my girl cool.

Charlotte NC is about a 6 or 7 hour drive from my place, home of Lowes motor speedway. Do you have any reputable radiator repair people in your area? If you do that would be the way to go, so you could keep your original tanks..etc. A friend of mine does this kind of work and I've watched him many t...

Hi naildriver, you sure don't want to overheat you Sdexta, after all your hard work and money spent. I don't know where your location is so it would be hard to say where you could get a new one. You have two options, 1, you could take it to a radiator shop and have a new core put in, using your orig...

Re: Dexta Engine Dying. Fuel Low?
Hi Ploughman, I had that trouble with mine a couple of times. I took the diesel fuel line going to the fuel pump off to see how fast the fuel was flowing, mine wasn't flowing very fast. I ditto what Ben said, your screen filter inside the tank may be dirty not letting enough fuel flow down to the pu...

Ben, I have a 1959 and it has the AC 4lb cap with the washer, it was loose like yours before the overhaul, but I glued it back to where I thought it was originally. It hasn't given me any problems so far.
