Just don`t forget to let go! Would be nice to see it from the other side to see how the cutters work.

Re: Major hydraulic oil question
Hi there Holdenfarm Rob, just read through your post. The filler cap on the left hand side near the clutch pedal is for the gearbox which is seperate from the back axle so you don`t want to filter your back axle oil into it.Inside the gearbox filler you will see a level mark. The dipstick just near ...

I pretty sure they are 3/4" UNC. If your threads are as rusty as mine were run a tap through to check before buying bolts to be certain. Dave

Re: side belt pulley
My pulley was just the same untill after my son took it into work and pressed on a new bearing for me. He says there was quite a lot of burring on the gear which made enough friction to turn the pulley wheel so he cleaned the burring off with emery cloth and its been no trouble since.

Re: Pickup hitch
Thanks for the answers. As I use a logsplitter on the 3PL and need to move a trailer regularly I won`t be disconecting the link arms unless there is a compelling reason to do so. The pickup hitch will certainly save a lot of messing about with bits of chain and sleeper as the trailer jack died years...

Pickup hitch
For 4 years I`ve wondered what the lever by my PM brake pedals was for. My friend Jeff offered me his pickup hitch as he doesn`t use it, only thing missing was the release lever near the brake pedals. Bingo ! I`d already got the lever, the long bolts through the tops of the lift arms and a cutout se...

Re: Shipping From Australia
Hello Jim, I see you didn`t get much response to your request. I have tried to get a price for a container to ship tractors back from New Zealand. None of the companies I contacted actually gave me a price, some stated there were too many variables to put a price on a one off shipment of one contain...

Re: Battery Voltage
Nick , can you try another battery which is known to be good?
I don`t think 12.6v is all that good if fully charged, 13.2v - 13.4v would be better. Dave

Halloween, I found it a reasonably easy job to do and I`m no mechanic, but I did get a friend with an expanding reamer to come round and ream the new bushes for me as the reamer is quite a specialised tool and expensive to buy for a one off job. I whacked one bush in well with a hardwood block and l...

I insure my FPM through NFU Mutual as a vintage tractor. I`m covered for social domestic and pleasure use, including rallies and working events for around £50 a year, but I`m nearly 60 so that may help lower the premium. You could always check with them about there being a query on the v5 I`m sure i...

Re: log splitter
Chriss, if its any help I run a hydraulic splitter on my 1960 FPM. I use 30w oil, took the feed off from under the RH side of the drivers seat, returned through the filler cap. Pin the tractor`s hydraulic lever up to give constant pumping and mine works a real treat. The ram travels faster than I exp...

Lovelly story Pat, you are so lucky to have such family treasures. We need to tell the kids all we know about our parents and grandparents otherwise it all gets lost over the generations And I bet Grandad did know about the tractor in the swamp!

Auxillary hydraulics
I`ve finally got a log splitter for my Power Major and fitted it this week. I`ve taken the feed from the plug under the RH side of the seat and returned through the filler. The problem is the splitter won`t work unless the hydraulic lever is held up in the lift position, then everything is fine. I`v...
