Hi,
Sorry Nick, wasn't meaning to upset anyone with what I was saying.
I was purely meaning that insulation tape tends to become brittle with the heat from the engine and then cracks and breaks off, where as heat shrink doesn't.

Hi,
Looks a bit like a Fordson Power Major, with an upgraded 6 cylinder, perhaps lorry engine, fitted at a later date...

Re: Air pre cleaner
Hi,
I am only getting 1800rpm on my standard dexta. I know that the air filter is clear, because I took it completely to bits and washed it all out, including the gauze.
The mushroom is a reproduction one, where should I look first please?
Thanks,

Hi, No idea where you could get blue cable from, however you could get black, and sleeve it with some blue heat shrink tubing from here.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1mm-15mm-Heat-Shrink-Heatshrink-Tubing-Tube-Sleeve-Sleeving-Wrap-Various-Colours-/151021573294?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_...

Re: Different between 5,50x16 and 6,00x16 tires
Hi.
The difference between 5.5 and 6 is 0.5
This is indeed the width of the tyre in inches.
The 16 is the diameter of the centre of the tyre.
I believe the sidewalls are all of very similar height..

Steering box filler thread
Hi,
Does anyone know what the type size of thread on the steering box filler is?
Alternatively, does anyone have a spare screw?
I want to try and put a grease nipple in, and fill my steering box with liquid grease
Thanks,

Hi,
These are the only ones I can find...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LANDROVER-ROVER ... 0089217257
I know they are in the states, but shipping shouldn't be crazy expensive, and I don't know where you can find any anywhere else.

I'm going to say silver for the grills, however I think there has been some debate on this subject before! Yes the badge does need painting, although I'm not totally confident of the original colours, someone else will have to tell me which of these two is correct... http://farm5.staticflickr.com/41...

Re: Poor starting technique?
Hi. Any tractor which is 40-50 years old and has done a reasonable amount of work 5000+ hours will struggle starting, especially when cold i.e less than 5c. Your Dexta will start easily with the correct, and working starting equipment. Equally, if you unscrew the glow plug from the inlet manifold, a...

Re: Help required getting Hydraulics’ working
Hi, I had a very similar problem, after I had removed things from the hydraulic's of the tractor. Firstly, check you have oil flow by removing the top plate, with the knob on it (your's has broken off) and very carefully, with the stop control OUT so the tractor won't start, crank on the starter. If...

Re: Running In!!
Hi. @ Vulgunx - The tyres are I believe the originals, they are in quite poor condition with cracking, but they still hold air, and are quite sought after, so they can stay for now! I will check the make when I go to the tractor again. @ Cvans - No rear weight's, no fluid in the tyres, just the hydr...

Re: Help required getting Hydraulics’ working
Hi. On the second photograph, inside 'the black hole' :D facing the camera, there should be a type of piston which can be pulled in and out to divert oil flow from hydraulic arms, to the outlet at the top of the 'black hole' It's difficult to see from the photo if the end has snapped off or if it si...

Re: Poor starting technique?
The heater/fuel atomizer should make the world of difference to starting. It's effectively like putting your blow lamp directly into the intake manifold, while starting which is significantly increasing the temperature of the air drawn into the engine. If your heater/atomizer isn't working, it is mu...

Hi Sam, The setup you have is correct, one replaceable one and one that''s tucked up in the main body of the air cleaner The only way to clean the upper one without forcibly taking the main body apart is: 1) Soak in some diesel for a day or two and then boil it with some washing up liquid or somethi...

Hi.
