if you can lock arms with a bar or chain in the postion you require flow of oil will go through aux pipe even if arms are locked in down position.

what sort of revs are you doing to get 40 psi.
i am not all that familiar with the inside of engines, where is oil pump and how hard would it be to change as a novice mecanic.

what do i need to look at first on my ford 6 cylinder engine, it is an idustrial versoin of the d series lorry engine. pressure is about 20 psi at 1000rpm when cold, and drops to 5 psi when hot, it will increase with revs. i am currently using a standard 15w40 diesel oil. hi lo lever jumping out

my friend has a ford cargo with a power major gearbox that developed a fault with the hi lo selector jumping out under load.
we have changed gearbox to a diesel major one, now we have a problem with it jumping out of high gear when you throttle down, it is fine under load and revving.

its a friends 4 cyl, old ones where scored no regrind, he is doing a basic engine re build with new rings and shells.

I am have been looking at ways to make my diesel major seat more comfy, at the moment the rubber bung is totally solid, not sure if its original as it attaches to seat with 1 large bolt in centre, but there are also 2 small holes either side. I am about to start spraying my new rear wings
i have sprayed old ones before and have always struggled to get them to stand up to be sprayed.
does anyone have a good method.
I am not a good enough sprayer to hang them upside down from the ceiling :lol: :lol:

dating help

i have been to visit a friend who is rebuilding a major.
can someone date it for me please
i found 2 casting codes both a8v
engine number on bulk head starts 12700---
engine has no number, has traces of yellow paint, throttle through block and wide fan belt.

brake cross shaft

i have managed to remove footplate and brake pedals from my diesel major so i can renew seal on cross shaft,
i am having touble removing the key from the shaft is there a specific way of doing this?
i have tried force but i am damaging the key.

hard to say without pics but i would say anywhere between £1000- £1500 at auction.
make sure engine oil is the colour it should be, and hydraulics lift with a load if possible.

brake shaft seal

hi my brake shaft has started to leak on my diesel major.
it leaks where shaft goes into back axle, is there anyway to repair this without removing the whole shaft and draining oil.
Could i perhaps park on a side slope so oil was on clutch pedal side of tractor??

unload valve again

my unload valve on the diesel major is stuck and i am not sure how to remove it, i have managed to remove top plate and the small piston with the spring but cannot get the valve out beneath.
how can i do this please.

i have mended the leak i hope, checked tappets they all seemed fine, good job as i could not work out how you adjust them, they only have a hollow bolt no nut and screw head,
the hollow bolt is locked in postion but i could not see how.
