Re: Fordson super 6 pot

There are original ones but they are expensive. They fitted on the mountings for the normal drawbar and just under the rear end of the axle casying, the lower link brackets were different as were the lift arms, and it was an independent operation setup. I think there might be pics on the forum, ther...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

Sounds like they're not the original valves then, as yours would have had those ring seals when new. When Super Billy's seal was first fixed the heavy bits were left undisturbed, but there were other issues being dealt with at the time and it seemed unnecessary to pull the front off only to end up f...

Re: Why should my generator warning light flicker when I rev my DEXTA?

Might be a regulator issue, run the test and see how it performs, the manual covers it in detail for all types used (If it's a sealed RB 108 the setting of the gaps can still be done by carefully bending the tabs back to remove the cover, as JCB instructed, the settings are the same as the RB 106/2,...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

Glad that's sorted, did you fit the ring seals too or not? Not at all surprised it took a bit of running to clear it, hope you have more success with the front crank seal this time. Super Billy's one is leaking too, and it's probably done less than 30 hours from when it was fixed (but then it did si...

Re: Delta won’t Rev: air filter issue?

Be careful uncovering the pump as then there's nothing to keep the dirt out, also remember that controlling the rack directly needs to be done in the way the governor would do it to avoid an overspeed and damage. Next check you can actually open the butterfly valve fully in order to check this, whil...

Need to know what filter it is but there aren't new seals available. A seal specialist would be more like it, Brian fixed his hydraulic seal like that.

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

The parts books do indeed often omit parts in illustrations, particularly fastenings. Worn rings will normally show a drop in power, as will any injector issues. I would do a test after fixing the seals to see what changes you get before taking the head or injectors off.

A pic of your seat would help, but here's Billy showing what most tractors had https://i.postimg.cc/fR2vkQgh/2022-N27-5.jpg a few had the deluxe seat, don't have a pic of the right one but Davie shows roughly what it looks like (the cussion is not correct and actually not very comfy) https://i.posti...

Also possible, but I would have expected low power as well for that, I don't think Henk mentioned that. Might be worth checking the injectors if the head comes off though.

Re: Power Major sidelight wiring and routing

The wires are in special conduits made of rubber wrapped wire coil, the connection in the dash powers a wire going round the RH side of the top cover to the rear light. From there separate wires go round the top cover, bull pinion and brake cover then into the mudguard front box and up to the side l...

Re: FSMajor ROPS wanted

The LH and RH castings are the same, and the original uses were holding the check chain brackets and the underswept exhaust. Converters like JCB used them to anchor the rear of heavy front end loaders, County also used them for their hevy duty drawbar for crawlers without hydraulics (when fitted wit...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

The ring seal was a square cross section, but an o-ring might be ok if you can't find a square one. Cup seals were fitted to all valves from 1458447, the ring type seals were not fitted from then onwards, and the valves didn't have the slot for them. I suggest you check bolts to be nice and tight as...

Re: FSMajor ROPS wanted

The holes are blind, about 1 1/4" deep I think. Don't forget there is no original ROPS, they all came in many years after Major's were being made and as far as I know there was never a standard ROPS for a Major. Don't really know why no one offers seat belts though, as they are well proved to be ess...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

For the front crank seal you need to check the pulley first to make sure there's no groove worn in it, as for the valves the cup type seals appeared on 1458447 rubber ring seals were fitted to a groove in the inlet valve stems only before then, and although Ford say to use only cup seals on all engi...

Re: Cranckcase and oil splashes

I would suggest new valve seals for now, as for the front crank seal they leak very often, but normally because of lots of use (the pulley gets a gouge in it allowing leaking past a seemingly perfect seal or even a new one). If the oil coming out gets worse under a heavy load then it might be that y...

Re: FSMajor ROPS wanted

The holes are threaded, and underneath they hold the check chain brackets and downswept exhaust, they're 5/8" UNC thread. You can't pass bolts through the casting without getting into oil unless you use the mudguard bolts. but that might be owkward for other reasons. The holes that hold the check ch...

You might find cabs but not with any supporting capability, most cabs you see though are still on tractors that tend to sell quite expensive.

Re: FSMajor engine breather (13mm type)

The level is indeed the indent near the bottom. Hope you cleaned everything well to avoid filings getting in. Agriline also have them out of stock. If you have issues with the brakes I would deal with them first, the steering box is a more delicate job during which I recommend you clean the fuel tan...

Re: FSMajor engine breather (13mm type)

As long as it seals there's no problem, but I propose you swap the tubes (they're brazed onto the bowl), as it will give you more room. The early breather is actually 5/8", looks like Railswood have actually listed them both correctly, but they don't say if they're in stock or not. Looks like the af...

Re: FSMajor engine breather (13mm type)

I would think it's more likely from neglect, although that can cause rust from both inside and outside, in most cases from the inside as incoming air is cold and damp, and you might well find condensation on the outside of the air hose on cold damp days. Rather expensive, but if it works it works. S...

Re: FSMajor engine breather (13mm type)

I chose this pic precisely so you could see the mounting, the breather was beeing cleaned and was off at the time, but you should see the o-ring used in this earlier breather. From outside they look very similar, but inside they're not as similar. You will get an early top on a late bottom (but it w...

Re: FSMajor engine breather (13mm type)

Before the Mk2 engine there was a pipe from the rocker cover to the intake manifold that would keep the crankcase under a vacuum, this was liable to issues due to the potential for leaks allowing the engine to run faster and also not really ventilating the crankcase (though still better than the con...
