Oil out of the breather

Hi, my Super Major started spilling oil out of the breather on the timing cover. I learned from older posts here that 1. hard work for her may help, so I disced an hour on a friends field. 2. the air filter sucks air from the motor body. 3. the breather normally contains some wool or mesh. I opened ...

Hi,

my french Major parts list knows the hub as E1ADKN-1105 including the bolts and it seems to be the same part from 1952 on.

Re: Stuck unload valve

Hi Adrian, did you solve this topic? Today I disassembled my hydraulics, changed lots of o-rings but did not manage to get out the plug of the valve hidden by the plates of the control valve. Thread there was 3/8" UNF (I think). I had nothing of that kind, unfortunately. How do I get out the speed c...

Re: Fordson Major Painting

Hi, maybe this video can help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz8IqKV6GVU It's a trailer for a DVD with old advertising films by Fordson. After the intro with rebuild tractors starts a film about the Super Major (from 0:30 to app. 1:40). On DVD the Super Major film is about 12min long, on youtube i...

Wreckers in GB

Hi, I'm going to the Isle of Man next time (with a car). I'll cross the bigger island from Hull to Heysham. Are there any wreckers on my way I should visit? I'm looking for smaller parts like badges or the metal teeth of the grille e.g. Any hints? Peter P.S.: Can anyone recommend a hotel in Heysham?...

Re: Super & New Performance Super gauges - differences

Hi, on my January 1963 Super Major the RPM gauge goes anti clockwise (0 is on right side). Actually I have one of this cheap repro parts without light. The first stopped working after 1,2 hours, this one shows RPM but does not count the time. The driving cable comes directly from the injection pump....

Re: NM Radiator removal

Hi, are you sure, that there's a hole and not simply too much water inside? I replaced the radiator and after filling the new water in and driving around, water run out of it, too. I filled the upper hose up to the maximum, but there was no room for the expanding hot water. Now water level is on the...

Re: Super Major final drive ratio

Can you find some 3metre diameter rear wheels / tyres to fit Peter ?? :P but this would spoil the look  I was thinking of 18.4/30 when renewing tyres, but they are not mentioned in any papers I had. In Germany you need a technical check from TÜV for registration. With old papers it was no prob...

Hi,

another question, because the picture shows it very good: How is the valve (Nr. 2 in the photo above) dismantled, which switches between 3pt linkage and the external pipe? It looks similar to that on my super major, but mine does not move.
Can I turn the big round cover?

Hi,

just as a notice: Today I mounted a new solenoid and tested a new clamp meter at different cables. The running starter alone (not coupled to the flywheel) used about 50-60 Ampere. Starting the engine used about 150A. Temperature was at 18 °C.

Re: Power Major plow day "touch-up"

Hi Matt, my experience with tractor tyres is only 1/2 year. I use BKT tyres, TR-135 (16.9-30) on rear and 7.5-16 on front. They look okay and for my use (nearly no work, towing trailers) it's ok. I don't know how good they are on the field. Cost was 1430 Euro for all four tyres in summer last year. ...

Hi, I think you have to practice it a lot, then it'll work. This trailer was my first four-wheeler, so I'm not used to go reverse with it. I had a situation on Monday where I went in a very small lane, hill down and with a 90 degree curve. I had to go reverse round the curve but there was no room fo...

Hi, Looks like you tractor have no trouble at all pulling that trailer. In fact, I think your tractor went so fast that you have to wait for them! even with handbrake on on the trailer there was no problem to pull it. Only warm brakes :-) Speed was limited to about 15kmh after the parade, because th...

Helau (back to Holland :-) ),

after filling air in the tyres of the trailer I could push it alone. Slowest speed today was about 1.1km/h, first gear and idle rpm, so "no load".

People liked the tractor. :-)
