Re: Going ploughing
Thanks Brian, I'd say the bit you are suggesting to adjust is not original as it has different paint on it and it has been on my mind to check if it is adjusted right. I can't remember without looking if they are tcn or ucn I don't think they were scn. I guess down our way on the Hampshire downs yl ...

Re: Going ploughing
Hi Adrian yes it's quite light soil and below 6" you can be pulling chalk up. It was set up at 14" furrows as that's how I bought it and it didn't seem to know it was there.

Re: Going ploughing
Hi Adrian looks good! Had my ts82 behind the NP super the other day for the first time. Had trouble keeping it shallow enough, round here 6inches is max whereas it seemed to want to run at 8-10 inches and the draft lever was fairly near the top. Tweaking it much more resulted in it lifting right out...

Fordson standard vaporiser & throttle spring
Hi, I'm fairly new to the earlier fordsons and have recently started tinkering with a circa 1942 standard n petrol/tvo machine. I had the vaporiser plate off which was quite Carboned up, comparing it with a spare I noticed this one has not got what I assume is a brass jet fitted at the bottom wherea...

Re: Which plough for Roadless 75
Brian, thanks for your input, are these 14" furrow width? I imagine 3 furrows would be the limit of a 75 even with 4wd on heavy ground? It used to pull a 5 furrow conventional but that was on fairly light ground on the hampshire/wiltshire downs.

Which plough for Roadless 75
As per title, been wondering which plough (ideally Ransomes) would be best matched to a Roadless 75 ploughmaster, it is ballasted with nose weight, cast front centres and rear weights (has been from new), it was originally used with a 5 furrow conventional ransomes (don't know make). It would be on ...

Re: new performance engine
new performance should have "fomoco" inside a little oval on each of the main castings in raised letters - ie engine block, gearbox, pto dropbox, axle trumpets, back end etc even wheelweights, exhaust manifold & waterpump have the "fomoco". Interestingly the rear wings seemed to keep the enfo script...

Re: County Crawler
I'll check this weekend when I've got some time. There were 2 types of steering clutch, the 8 stud axles were the later type (its a while since I looked at one in detail so memory a but rusty). We've got a 1960 county based on a power major. Have you got roller bushes on the track chain? Ours should...

Re: Problem with diesel injection pump
If you have had the pump overhauled then you ought not to have any issues with it, however its worth checking one of the plungers is not stuck "up". If you take the side plate off and turn the engine over you should see the four plungers move up and down with a corresponding squirt of diesel out of ...

Re: Where to buy new solenoid?
one thing to look for that may have caused your solenoid to burn out is a sticky switch on the starter. When you push the starter lever it activates a small switch on top of the starter to complete the solenoid circuit. Sometimes the plunger gets sticky and doesnt pop out when you let go of the leve...

Re: Super & New Performance Super gauges - differences
All super majors with minimec pump had clocks that ran anti-clockwise to suit the drive taken off the back of the pump. The new performance super majors are different because they dont have separate PTO markings for std and raised PTO on the face, just one (since raised PTO on NPM is same ratio as s...

Re: roadless conversion
the ratio is different in the final drive (differential) so this comes after the 4wd drop box hence you need the right gearing for your final drive or probably easier to find the correct rear diff ratio to match whatever roadless kit you have

Re: Rare major valve?
That looks like my picture from a post a year or two back, I have this valve on a tractor using it to supply constant aux through a spool valve with a return to the back axle through the filler. Rear arms can be used independently with the flow out of this valve on or off. Spool valve is used for a ...

Re: Rare parts wanted - UK
Are you looking for NP raised PTO or major/blue orange super raised PTO? NP raised PTO really are hard to find and will carry a big price tag if "regular" raised PTO's are anything to go by.

Re: Pickup hitch
Hi, you are supposed to disconnect the drop arms from the lower link arms, lower link arms should fold up out the way and attach to top cover with small chains. The drop arms then connect to the pick up hitch links (when not in use these connect to the ears each side of the hitch for stowage). Not v...

Yes I found out looking at another tractor the spool valve should have a tapping point on the front face (nearest gearlevers) which looks like it can be piped up for the assistor ram. Got a picture but will need to download it at some point before posting

I'm afraid if it's the crawler I think it is then it is sold, I rang up myself last month to inquire since it seemed pretty cheap to me but it had already been sold.
