ASP = All Spare Parts
which means it's made up from parts from various different Fordson Major tractors.

Nick
Congrats on the wedding, and well down on the carriage conversion.
Hope you both had a great day.
There could be a future money earner here for you, with your tractor drawn wedding carriage?

Re: What model is my tractor?

I was looking at the thick plates on the side rails, and then realized they are the axle/A frame pivot sub frame. I much prefer these conversions with the front axle mounted further back, like this one, than pivoted at the tombstone. It will make the steering heavier though. Dose she have power stee...

ScoobyJim
So, on the rear tractor, you change gears using the gear levers, and on the front unit the gears are selected by the joystick that is mounted on the rear tractor? correct!
Certinainly a mind bender working all that out.
Fantastic job.

But here is my dilemma, this guy has five Majors that he wants to sell me! Two complete tractors and three parts tractors, and even the scrap ones have a goodie or two on them that I could use, power steering, DAR valves, raised PTO, etc. I have some serious thinking to do, can I afford all this st...

Hope all our friends in the UK are'nt suffering too badly from the severe weather.
TV coverage shows things as being bad for those affected.
Hope they get power back on soon, and the snow melts.

I think woodcutter is saying is that there is no handbrake there, and never has been. The circle in the casting for the handbrake lever has not been cut out. My Major is the same, but mine was exported to Aust. Could be an option, or had a replacement gearbox fitted from a Major. Does this SM have t...

Re: My Ford 5000 - first (small) test drive

Spannerdog I took my trumpets off recently to do the outer axle seals. Trumpets are heavy, but with a chain block was ok. Engine hoist would probably work also. Your quoted price seems steep. Have you priced up parts from agriline etc, or even good second hand. When quoting , they normally allow for...

Looking good.
Left click opened it up for me.
What is wrong with your brakes. Internal or external problems?
I see you have a new generator with tacho drive. The generator on my 5000 dose'nt charge, but I use it purely to drive the tacho. I must look at fixing or replacing it.

Hi guys.
Have seen an article in FFA mag (I think) about a company that does contract lawn mowing. One of their tractors was a Dexta with large fairly bald tyres on like that to avoid damaging the the grass.
Will look through my mags tonight to check.

Thats a great collecton.
I too have a fasination of County tractors.
I have never driven one, but there is one here on the Island, an 1164.
I did'nt realise that County made an 1162. I thought the only 2 WD tractor was the Hi-drive models.
Never too old to stop learning ah.

You've just rebuilt your Dexta, presumably with new battery cables and terminals, so should be very easy to remove your battery terminals.
