Date of production
Hallo, I posted in the conversion forum about my newly bought tractors. I was quite sure the Super Major was July 21st 1961 castingcodes saying J21F. But in a different table, later Majors from 1963 can have the same castingcode but the date would be June 21st 1963 :? That date would be one of the l...

Re: new member - super major or power major
Hi the dashboar Looks like a Diesel Major, the model ahead of the Power Major.
You shoul look for the casting codes on your tractor to identify it by the day of production.

The engine has the numer S 455421, should be a replacement as far as I am informed. When I ...

Hallo, the french ownwer of the page told me, it was a Someca. Those machines are very rare even in central France. At ebay uk there is a magazine availible, writting about Dhotel combines: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=dhotel&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TR...

Hy Anderson,
your engine could be the same like one I have bought this year.
onthe last post of this thread

you find a good xplanation on the 510 prefix.

The tyre size 13,6X 36 was not common 50 years ago.
The roadless manula talks about 11 x 36 in combination with 9x24.
14 x 30 can replace 11x36

Re: newly purchased super major 4wd
Hi Richard,
I was offered that Major about 2 month ago.
The Price was 6.500 € .
How much was the price on ebay? I don´t have the tractor on my watchlist.
Regards
Matthias ,
who still dreams about a Major 4x4

Re: Reverse Conversion gearbox
Hi Robert,
when I read your post, I remembered, I have heard about the the possibility to flip over the differential carrier. That should be no Problem.
The driveline for the frontaxel must have a reverse gear inside, so it won´t work in a standart tractor.

Reverse Conversion gearbox
Hallo,
once in a while I read about forklifts or rearloaders based on Fordson Majors.
Is the gearbox different from the usual Major, the rearaxle or both?
Is it possible to use a four wheeldrive conversion kit out of a rearloader in a common tractor?

Re: Duals... What are your thoughts?
In conditions like yours, I think duasl would be the choice.
The rear axle will have no problem, in tractorpulling they use up to 150 hp on a Major gearbox. The power you loose when your tractor is digging tracs, is more effective in pulling, in case you use duals.

Re: Roadless width
Hallo Anderson, I suppose the axelunit was installed on a Major bevor. So there should be no problem,in case you use the same wheelsizes. The value of Roadless is higher in GB, in the rest of Europe I think, there is not very much differnce, since most of the very few conversions where Selene based ...
