Super Major Shawnee Loader Combo
Hi, A friend of mine has a Super Major, fitted with what I am fairly certain is a Shawnee front end loader. It seems to have a problem, in that every so often it will strip the chain which connects the crank, to the front mounted hydraulic pump. As a consequence of this I am looking for a better way...

Hi, I think it must have been my lucky day today! After about 20 phone calls I managed to track down a new old stock set! I would tell you who supplied them, but they don't have any more so not much point really. However, the supplier of the original, incorrect set, did say that they are looking int...

Thrust washers
Hi, Not sure if anyone else has come across this problem before! I have some replacement thrust washers for the engine in my Dexta, however, they are different to the ones originally fitted. Piston/Con Rod Orientation
Hi, Sorry if this sounds like a totally stupid question, but it is one that is sticking in my mind. I am soon to start re-assembling the engine in my dexta. Upon cleaning the con-rod assemblies, I noticed they have 1, 2, 3 stamped into the casting. Firstly: Which end of the engine does number 1 go? ...

Dexta seats
Hi,
Can anyone confirm if this seat, as sold by Agriline, was used throughout Dexta production please?
I have a '57 Dexta, with a seat fitted similar to a Ferguson seat, which I think is incorrect.
Can anyone confirm please?

Hi hiking bear, Not sure about a wiper motor, but how about another solution? How about getting someone to cut a hole in your windscreen for the wiper motor to fit through. Alternatively mount the wiper motor somewhere else, i.e. at the bottom of the windscreen... Just some suggestions! Feel free to...

Hi Bensdexta, Sorry about the image issue, it should be resolved now. Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at the parts list. I suspected that there should be a plate of some sort to keep the pin in place. It looks like in my case that this has been lost and a replacement from a ferguson or som...

Axle pin issue
Hi, I am rebuilding the front axle of my '57 Dexta at the moment, and have got to the stage of removing the front axle pin and bush and replacing. I have already bought a replacement part from Agriline which looks like this: http://img207.imagevenue.com/loc252/th_95628_dextapin_122_252lo.jpg However...

Hi, I have just had my '57 Dexta injector pump reconditioned. I'm reeling at the cost of £300, however, according to the guy who did it said half of the insides needed replacing! I'll never know if that was true or not, but he is recommended as being damn good at his job. Time will tell Regards, Mark

Hi again, @Bensdexta: I tried New Holland, and to my astonishment, they had some in stock! Thanks for that suggestion! @Ian: I don't know if there is any play, but while I have it split to do a clutch I figured for £8 for the new bearing, it would be a good idea to replace it! I understand that it i...

Axle nut and bolt sizes
Hi,
Not sure if anyone can help me here, but my Dexta has a mixture of strange sized nuts and bolts in the front axle.
Can anyone tell me the sizes and threads on the bolts which hold the radius rods, and the axle extension units to the centre axle beam?
Thanks,
Mark

Input shaft needle roller bearing
Hi, I am rebuilding the engine of my '58 Dexta, and have been advised that I should replace the needle roller bearing on the input shaft to the gearbox, as they are a weak point, and can break up. I am at a loss as to where I can buy this item! I can get the input shaft seal, but can't find the bear...

Hi Hiking Bear, my thoughts on this is that you probably need to give the tractor a good workout on a plough for a day or so, and I would be fairly sure that this problem will dissapear. See what others think by all means, but I have heared this before, not just with dexta's but also other makes, an...

Early diesel dexta linkage
Hi, about a year ago I acquired a dexta in a million and one bits, with a missing cylinder head, rear linkage, and several other bits. I have stripped the remainder of the engine had new liners pressed in, crank ground, purchased a new cylinder head, and am steadily now cleaning and assessing everyt...
