wheel rims

I suspect this question has been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer to it...

I have the pressed steel rims(and am happy about it), but I am wondering if the front rims from a Ford 7000 would fit? I am interested in the bolt circle diameter and the centre hole diameter ;)

Hmmm... Just to make sure I haven't gotten anything wrong here, but on the super major both left and right arm is the same, there is only one model that fits both sides whereas on new major and power major there are two distinct models, left and right, yes?

It being cast steel would make sence since it has bent without shattering, cast iron usually cracks when trying to bend it so... lots of heat it is then

I haven't got a picture of my deformed part, but it's not the ears on the levelling box itself, nor in the "shackle" between it and the lift arms, if I call it the upper lift arm? Big, heavy piece of cast iron, one on each side of the hydraulic lid, actuated by the ram piston inside the lid ;) The "...

you sure it's cast iron ? Cast iron seems a very poor choice for arms since it has poor tensile strength, and is also very brittle. I would have thought they would just be made of steel. Of course I could be wrong. This sounds a little like a "besserwisser" thing from my side, but those lower arms ...

deformed cast iron?

Well, during the disassembly and fixing up of my Super Major I noticed that the lift arm on the level box side has been deformed, one of the "forks" where the level box attaches to has been twisted downwards. Thanks to my fathers cousin I know how this has been "accomplished" by some lazy farmer tha...

She looks a beast! It is a E1ADN Major not an E27N. If you have engine parts problems, it would always be possible to convert her to a diesel with an engine from a breaker. The diesel version would just drop straight in. Don't you mean E1ADKN as in kerosene? E1ADDN is diesel, right? what was the pe...

Raised PTO

I've got a raised pto for major/power major(the one with the curved lever) just sitting and thought that there could be someone else who had use for one. It's complete with shaft, unfortunately the person who disassembled it from the tractor broke off the grooved bolt which the selector inside slide...

It's not the case of dirt blocking any passages but a small valve with a dysfunctional O-ring that has stuck because of the o-ring... It was the same on my super major, upon reassembly I omitted that O-ring by advice from a friend who had done the same with his and since he suffered no ill effects o...

There are two. E1ADKN3590 from 1952 to 1960 then E1ADDN3590 from 1960 till end of run. Don't know the difference though. No measurements here, but after diving through the workshop manual I now know what the differences are... The super major drop arm is slightly re-designed because of the new clut...

Do you have more days that are cold, than warm where you are? Just wondering why you are installing the cab. Dandy Dave! That would suggest that someone has swapped out the engine in either a power major or a major(does it have gauges on top of the fuel tank?)

Steering drop arm

Are there a couple of different ones? Mine on my Super Major extends, what I think, very far out from the steering gear, is there a multitude of different ones or are all the same? And if there are shorter versions, can they be fitted to a steering gear that originally had a longer arm?

Yes, I would agree with your comments but the porting layout is for a FMD or Power Major. I think I see the answer, there is a plate, E285WP9 that blanks off the valve porting for the FMD/Power Major, and the valve system is fed from the Super auxillary chest via pipe E288WP9 return to tank is via ...

Oil around the exhaust and manifold is, in most cases, caused by a diesel engine not being worked. Diesels need to be under full load nearly all the time to get a long engine life and remain trouble free. Most of our tractors are semi-retired so they rarely get enough work to keep the carbon seal o...
