Re: Dexta Casting Codes
Hi Mervyn, Thanks for info but that is engine casting codes, will probably still be useful, but there used to be a list of casting codes that could be found on gearbox, axle trumpets, back end castings which pointed to a date that the castings were produced. My original dexta has casting codes B10B ...

Re: Starter Motor Bendix
Hi All, An update on the starter pinion gear (not Bendix), after much internet searching I found this http://woodauto.com/Component.aspx?Ref=SDV31032, spoke to the company and after much measuring and e mailing back and forth we decided that this was a replacement for the original pinion gear and cl...

Starter Motor Bendix
Hi All,
Does anyone know where I can buy a starter motor bendix gear for my Dexta, looks like it maybe broke a gear tooth and then stripped the rest, it is the original push lever to engage type starter motor.

Re: Manifold Heater
Hi All, Update on progress with manifold heater. I now have my "whoosh" back - well almost. I ordered up a VPF3701 as suggested by NVNL because it looked similar to the heater fitted to my Dexta and connected it up before fitting it in the manifold, held the heater button for 20 seconds, saw the coi...

Re: Manifold Heater
Thanks for update Richard, your's is the later version with a small reservoir filled from the injector spill pipes and I think the heater allows the fuel to pass after the heater has been operated for a certain length of time. Older tractors were fitted with a push button type primer pump which is p...

Re: Manifold Heater
Richard, Does your tractor have the primer pump arrangement to supply the heater, I haven't yet got back to have a look at my heater, but the part you quote looks identical to the one on my tractor but it is a 1958 dexta with primer pump. If it turns out to be the same then I would buy a new heater ...

Re: Manifold Heater
OK, thanks Brian.
Is the jet simply like a carburettor jet with a small hole in a brass bush or is it a spring loaded ball valve arrangement, will be having a look later on today sometime.

Manifold Heater
Hi All Can anyone tell me how much fuel should come through the manifold heater when you push the primer button, tractor has recently become difficult to start from cold and I'm not hearing the usual "whoosh" after pushing the primer button. I took the heater out of the manifold today and can see th...

I have been trying for some time to access Stefan Riegel's website using the link in the forum but it hasn't worked for a long time now. Re: Tacho original?
Hi All, The tacho on my 1958 Dexta is an AC tacho, very similar to the one in the photo except the info is displayed on the bottom half of the face. Note the pto speed is 1600 rpm as opposed the one in the photo which is 1800 rpm, pulley speeds are the same at 2000rpm http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2...

Re: Dexta Information Plate
The top picture is a photo of the plate on my Dexta, I posted it some time ago. The tractor is early 1958, Serial No 957E 834, and the plate would appear to be original fitting, although it was covered in black from the exhaust and I only found it when I was fitting a new clutch plate.

Re: Steering Box - overhaul or not?
Hi All, I've taken my steering box to bits as I had a huge amount of sideways play on the rocker shafts - somebody has been in there before and been adding shims on the inside of the rocker shaft to try to take up the slack. There is a lot of wear on the bearing surfaces of the rocker shafts, so muc...

Re: proof meter
Hi All,
Here is another version of the proofmeter. This one has the pto speed at 1600 instead of the later 1800, it is on an early 1958 dexta.
It's an AC unit with service hours at 1412rpm

Hi All, An update on the pulley situation. I came away...

Hi All, I've been searching through the old forum for info on a dexta belt pulley, these seem to be rather thin on the ground so I thought about fitting a Fergie pulley. Well I did try to get the oil canister to seal (several times  ) by using some instant gasket, but I couldn't get it to seal perfectly, even to the point it was ok one day, but when I started it next day, it leaked again. Got the owner to go to local CNH dealer to ask if the conversion kit ...
