What do you mean take the pto out?
I have it in gear and had my wife turning it it over slowly
I will measure the spacing and conferm its 1.5 inch all the way around....
I did at one point have it so the pto got so we couldnt turn it. But i could still turn the motor over which i thought was odd

spliting a tractor
Ok so i split my 57 major to do the rear main while rebuilding the motor. Well i can not for the life of me get it back together. Any advice? Perfect! I picked up 10l yesterday after talking with my father in law! Now if only i can get some time in the garage i should be able to measure for the cylinder sleeve shims and get them ordered!

Ok so i have found on this site that the recomended oil for my 57 major is either 20w or 20w30.... i have called ever where around me and all i can find is 20w50. Will this be good enough? What other options can i use that wont hurt my fresh rebuilt deisel?

Ive looked and i cant find a definative answer on which surface. Reason o ask it the inner ring that it the tallest part is alot more then .004 more like.015 so i want to k ow if there is something wrong or not

Ok i just got my rebuld kit this morning. So now where am i suposed to measure the .002-.004 above the block? Is it from the inner ring which is already raised or the outer ring? Guess i need to order shims....

Coolant guage u can boil water and put it in it.... as for oil fressure i assume if u blew low pressure air in it it should act the same as oil

piston ring gap
Does anyone know the spec for the piston ring gap and the tourque specs for the connecting rods? Also the clutch o es would be helpfull. I can find manuals online but havent been able to find tourque specs or the ring gaps?

Wwll i disnt get much accomplished over the last 2 days... i did take measuremebts so i can make a clutch alignment tool at work this weekend. Also seen a reman sticker so thats a good sign!

Well i got my tractor split today. Now i have got to figure out how to remove/check the clutch. Then when i get my kit i cam going to replace the rear main seal. Wasnt too bad of a job so far. Well i was cleaning up the motor last night and found this.... a crack between 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 ... had a welder buddy stop buy he said weld or braze it up and it will be fine... what are your thoughts? Markr1001, hat lever is to enable the pto.
