Re: New Member / Buying advice

One addition I would suggest ti to add a External Hydraulic Return to enable Hydraulic implements such as a Log Splitter. This is what I did on my Dexta. It just requires a hole drilled and tapped into the Filler plug on the rear axle. If you need a picture then message me with your email address or...

Re: super dexta not running on No1 cylinder

Sorry to hear of this. Have you loosened all three unions at the injectors and cranked it over to see if you have fuel spitting from all three unions? If you have no delivery to No1 then I would get the injector pump serviced. What is your fuel level? It might sound like a daft question but make sur...

Re: Timing case cover eroded behind pump

Many years ago when I was refurbishing my Dexta the copper gasket had corroded away. I went to RS components and found a pack of Copper shim sheet (Various thicknesses) and they were big enough to make up a gasket from the thickest sheet. Take a look here but not sure if this will accommodate the si...

Have you fitted a steady bar from the link arm to below the axle? That will prevent the mower swinging and give a consistent swathe.

Re: Flail mower on Super Dexta

So long as you maintain the correct PTO speed then it depends on what the material is your cutting will determine the ground speed. I have cut general weeds on a plot for my neighbour who is self isolating and found that some parts it was Low 1st and others it was High 1st so just listen to how the ...

Re: No hydraulics

I regularly use my Dexta with a Logsplitter. with lift arms you have many distinct advantages: 1. You can move the Logsplitter to where you want to use it and put it back when finished. 2. The arms provide a solid brace when using the Logsplitter. 3. You can use the Logsplitter at a convenient heigh...

Re: my dexta engine repair

I used a Machine Mart engine stand when I refurbished my Dexta engine. Made the job much easier as you could rotate the block when for example fitting the Pistons and Con Rods. I also got some threaded rod and fitted them on the Bell housing in several bolt holes so that guiding the block onto the B...

Re: Oil feed to dexta head

I don't think they need a huge amount of oil. If there was too much then the stems could be swamped and the oil would find its way down the stem to the valve face and it may cause excess oil consumption or sooting up of the exhaust valve.

If you are ploughing then the inside face of the front right tyre must align with the inside face of the rear tyre to ensure both tyres follow the wall of the previous furrow. Doesn't this affect wheel adjustment?

Re: how does the diff lock work?

The differential in the rear axle allows the driven wheels to turn at a different speed when turning (the inner wheel will turn slower than the outer wheel). This is all well and good for the majority of driving whether on the road or in a field. The purpose of the difflock is to stop the differenti...

Re: Fordson Dexta Diesel oil leak

IMHO that is the weep hole at the front of the bell housing so I gues that your rear main bearing seal is leaking. The oil has run into the bell housing and if you get oil on the clutch then you will lose traction. The solution is to (sorry to say!) is to remove the engine completely, remove the sum...

Re: Power going to dynamo

Have you "Flashed" the Dynamo? If it is polarised (Flashed) the wrong way it can be catastrophic. Knew a chap who replaced the Dynamo on a Ford Taunus (V4) and didn't realise the Dynamo rotated anti-clockwise. He burnt out several Dynamo's and control boxes before I spotted that the cooling fan vane...
